Lupul got booed at a Blue Jays game last night

As if booing the Leafs at the Air Canada Centre didn’t satisfy angry Toronto sports fans, now the Leafs are getting booed at baseball games.

Joffrey Lupul attended yesterday’s Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre, and when his face was shown on the scoreboard, the boos followed.

From the Toronto Star:

You wouldn’t call these lusty boos. More like smitten boos, or perfunctory boos.

But they were boos, and they were widespread.

To his credit, Lupul had some fun with what had to be an embarrassing moment, tweeting, “Just gonna watch The Jay’s games on TV from here on in. Tough crowd! Felt like I was back in Ottawa. #BOOOOPUL”

We’d recommend the Leafs don’t attend any Argonauts games this summer either, but nobody attends Argonauts games.

Hey! I’ve been to an Argos game like two or three years ago.

Kinda shameful they’d boo one of our only good players, but then again Jays fans were throwing garbage at me because I wore a Red Sox jersey to the opener so I can’t say I’m surprised.

Why would you wear a Red Sox jersey to the opener?

      • 1943mrmojorisin1971 - Apr 12, 2012 at 6:19 PM

I’ve been a Sox fan for as long as I’ve been watching baseball. 10 years ago a ticket to a Jays game wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on, so can you blame me?

Shame on you Toronto. You claim to be the Hockey Capital of the World, and you boo a guy who comes to your team and performs well. Not even Philadelphia would have done that. Disgraceful.

I’m pretty sure there’s at least a 65% chance that a Philadelphia crowd woulda done that…

I don’t know why your trying to be the grammar police.

that’s a shame because I wish he was still in Philly right now for the playoffs. kids the real deal Toronto, you shouldn’t boo the good ones. then again, I’m from Philly, what would I know about booing?

“Are you saying ‘Boo’, or ‘Boo-urns?’ “

    • silversun60 - Apr 12, 2012 at 7:02 PM

      “I was saying boo-urns!”

      • johnguelff - Apr 12, 2012 at 7:06 PM

Kit: Philly fans will boo you on the field or on the ice. They, believe it or not, have enough class to not boo a guy while he is at a game as a fan. But I realize the rep they have ….

Didn’t the Blue Jays when a World Series around 10 years ago? But the tickets weren’t worth the price of the paper they were printed on?
    Love the Argos joke !!

    • 1943mrmojorisin1971 - Apr 12, 2012 at 8:06 PM

I see you’re also one of those people who still thinks the early/mid 90s was 10 years ago.

  8. phillyphan83 - Apr 12, 2012 at 7:48 PM

It has nothing to do with class, we aren’t classy, were blue-collaar. It has to do with sports sense. There’s only two people we will boo, oops 3, no matter where or when we see them…Kobe Bryant, JD Drew and Jerry Jones. lol

Zach… Since youve posted twice here about it, I Hate to have to be the one to break this to you.. But Santa isn’t real. Philly boo’ed an old, drunk man in a cheap red suit…in 1968. Relax. It wasn’t Jesus Christ who rose from the dead at the 50 yard line….you might want to read the whole story after the shock that Santa is a character wears off.

There you go, Zack. There’s the whole story.
