Wideman had his struggles in that last year, as did that entire team.

He rebounded to lead the team in playoff scoring in the two rounds the B's played in. Talk to most Bruins "fans" and he's the ZOMG WORST DEFENSEMAN EVER. Talk about having selective memories.

Speaking as one, Boston fans always need something to blame: Wes Welker in the Super Bowl, chicken and beer for the Red Sox, Joe Corvo this year...this list goes on.

The headline seemed designed to attract users like Habsman to just rant about Boston fans. It seems like what he said as a whole was not an indication he had some problem with Boston fans, but the headline sort of read that way. Just my .02...

Wideman is owning the fact that he sucked in his final season in Boston. It's nothing that we all didn't see. He actually played decent in the playoffs that year. But Claude expects more from his defensemen and Wideman was a freaking sieve and Boychuck was coming around. It made sense to deal him. I really don't give a crap that he made the all-star game. He is not as good of a defenseman for the Boston system as Chara, Seidenberg, Boychuck, Ferrence, or McQuaid.

It seems you guys like to stir things up around here. If you read the article he says he expected it because of his poor play. He was simply not a good fit in the Julien defense first system. He was an offensive defenseman and wasn't terribly reliable in his own zone. The Caps are just a better fit for him.

Here's a better article where it talks about how he was rooting for the Bruins last year...

http://www.nesn.com/2012/04/dennis-wideman-not-bitter-over-treatment-in-boston-or-trade-from-bruins-as-defenseman-returns-to-fac.html

"Wideman said he still keeps in touch with many of his ex-teammates in Boston, before adding, “Not now though. We’re not talking anymore." He was still rooting for the Bruins last year during their Cup run, though those feelings are a little different now that he’s going head-to-head with the reigning champs in the opening round.

"Yeah, I was," Wideman said. "Not this year."

he was brutal that last year. He was always an offensive defenseman but his turnovers became too much to take. Guy was allowing goals single handed with awful passes out of his own zone.

He was a -14 that last year, on a team that was mostly plus. Just WAY to many horrible turnovers.

Even still he is a -39 for his career. That kinda D man doesnt fit well in Boston's system.
