ottograham, you're not the type of fand he's talking about, its idiots like genopringles who spew homer garbage that makes no sense and is obvilious to the facts. no fan of any team in any sport doesn't take into consideration the history of their franchise because your history is what defines you and makes you proud to be a fan of your team. So those messages are for biased, uninformed homers like geno who throw that pride back in our faces as if HIS teams history is a valid arguement point but ours is not. I love it how biased fans want to put a limit on what part of history you can use in defending your team. Its OK for pens fans to use the last 2 decades to defend their team but were losers for using the last 4.

First of all, your rant is ridiculous. Second, I am trying to follow your logic here and it seems you are blaming these other teams for having good players and that's why the Flyers couldn't beat them. I guess if that is the case then any team that has a better group of players wins everytime? I'm pretty sure that's not always what happens when it comes to sports. Third, it is not a valid argument to say that the Pens "wouldn't have beaten those teams" because we just don't know. Fourth, stop blaming the Pens for their good fortune with draft picks...last time I checked, having a #1 pick doesn't guarantee success. Fifth, NO ONE cares about playoff appearance and blah blah (enter meaningless stat here) other than the fans in the cities of those teams. We don't settle for less than championships in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately for Flyers fans, you do.

On a final note, BEWARE THE SOUPCAN - consider yourself warned. SCA

No team in this era is capable of beating the Islanders of the 80's. I was born in 89 and theyre highlights are beyond anything I have ever witnessed on the ice (as a collective team).

It seems Flyers fans just arent aware of the lack of ownership the Pens had throughout the early 2000's. Until Mario owned this squad we barely had a chance of having a hockey team. We also hadnt been successful since he retired (for the 2nd time). Now we understand we dont have the history your team does, but why are we not entitled to beginning our tradition? It started in early 90s with the first two wins, and now we have stable ownership. There is integrity in our ownership and management currently. There is no denying that now I feel like, but you continue to use the chase for Mario as a crutch. I mean it was the 80s guys. whats done is done. Feel like there are much realer things in life to be up in arms over.

In all this should be an awesome series. Whoever wins the cup this year will have truly deserved it. Its tough matchups across the board.

My point in all this is that you can say you've won one more titles and the time between titles and such....but for the last 40+years we are in the mix we don't have a ten year drought get a ton of picks do well for while then tank again it about consistantcey very year we put a team on the ice that can compete....I'd rather that than win for a while lose for a while. We've been in the final 4 sixteen times and NO you wouldn't have beaten those teams your talking about two of the greatest teams ever assembled Christ the oilers had four 100 point scoers when we played them in 87 and we took them 7 games you're obviously either not old enough to remember or not a true fan or you'd know. I'm not whining I'm stating fact we have an owner that's a hall of fmer ( for owning not playing) if not for Mario the pens wouldn't even be in pittsburgh. That's never been even been discussed in Philly. So we haven't won a cup in a while so what at least every year for 40 years we had a chance ....hoow about the Pens or are you not old enough to remember? Like I said do your homework had we not run into teams like the Oilers, Islanders, Canadiens and even that Detroit team was a buzz saw....we should have beaten Chicago but are goaltending sucked but I can admit it. We may have won a couple more but some of those teams were dynasties you can't argue that unless your not fan of the game which I believe is true. I don't make it a habit of getting on here and talking trash but enough is enough you one more cup than us...that and a dollar will still only get you a cup of coffee.

I'd rather an apperance than a no show.....it's not like the Eagles ok the Flyers are considered one of the greatest NHL franchises in NHL history. Not to mention you obviously didn't read that we played teams that even your Mario led teams wouldn't have beaten either. That is if you know your history but you're probably a homer and believe you could beat that Oilers team or Islanders. Oh....and how long was it before your first winning season after the 67expansion...I'll give you a hint it was double digits we were winning cups. We can say that's never happened to us the longest playoff drought a whopping 4 years....sorry again I'm not a typical Philly fan...moron!

Well said truehockeyfan, however its all in vain as the truths you speak of will fall on deaf ears and d-bag geno will find some b.s. way to try to refute what you've said. he will try to make you believe that the pens are soooo much better because they've won 3 cups to our 2, not understanding the simple concept of math. Fret not my friend, the rest of us with even the slightest bit of intelligence will recognize your points and take them for what they are: the truth, and geno for what he is: a brainless, homer, d-bag whose stuck on crosbys and malkins nutz!

genopringles has nothing relevant to add to any discussion, just silly little nicknames for his man crushes. He has admitted soupcan is a reference to what is in Crosby's pants. Enough said. He should probably go to bed as his dad is gonna be pissed to find him messing around on the computer again looking at naked pictures of Syd.

And just to add to your diatribe, they drafted in the top 2 four years in a row which accounts for their recent success. When they drafted Lemeiux, they intentionally lost games so they could pick him. There was no draft lottery then. Otherwise they would probably have went bankrupt and been a 2 sport city. There was no draft lottery then. Before another uneducated Pens fan chimes in, the coach from that team has admitted as much.

The Pens have missed the playoffs over twice as many times as the Flyers. The Flyers have averaged a trip to the conference finals every 2-3 since they have been in existence which also is as often as the Pens make the playoffs. And finally, the Penguins never made it beyond the 2nd round in their first 23 years of existence.

In summary, the Pens are a franchise on the whole that is not very successful and lacks integrity.

I'm getting sick of pens fans that talk so much trash....for god sake do have nothing better to do??? The only reason you guys are back on top is because you blew for so long and got two big draft pics. Besides the Redwings the Flyers have made the most consecutive playoff appearences (16 of 17), the Flyers are second only to Boston in 100 point seasons (they aren't even an Original six!), they have second highest winning percentage in league history standing only behind Montreal....shall I continue the list gets bigger! 15-20 great to good seasons and three cups does not a storied franchise make. We played Edmonton twice in their heyday (remember them Gretzky, Messier, Coffey, Fuhr, Kurri. You know hall of famers) and lost to them In the finals, then we lost to the islanders (who won 4 straight cups starting with us....oh should I name all the hall gamers on that team?) and along the way we lost to Montreal in the finals which I'm ok with because they have 22 cups!!! Don't talk trash unless you're a real fan of the game not just damn homer...you've had some great players some best of all time good for you but you are not in any way or fashion in league with a franchise that year after year for over 40 years is in the hunt...when you can talk about the pens in the same breath as the original six then I would talk but until that shut up and learn....oh I have found a new respect for Jagr he's a great guy on and off the ice you guys boo him because he didn't want the pressure of playing there he just wants to play that's it no A...no C.... I'm not a typical Philly fan I give credit when it's due but when nimrods like you run your unintelligent mouths it pisses me off.
