Again going to slip this in here: Luongo has NOT had a good year. Schneider is awesome. Canucks fans are overzealous jerks. Luongo is an amazing goalie in a terribly critical market. All of this is true – however, Luongo has not been good this year. His inconsistency shouts it. Look at his numbers compared to the individual games… averages work in funny ways. This is not to excuse the pendulum nature of so many Canuck fans, but when a backup plays this incredibly and your main guy is all over the place then yes, it’s going to be talked about.

Trust me, I’d love nothing more than to see Luongo exiled to Columbus or something, but it’s not gonna play out like that. He gets to choose the teams he’s willing to waive for, and nobody waives for a basement team. And making matters worse, every good team’s already got goaltending. Christ, a lot of the BAD teams have stable goalie situations. How do you trade a starting goalie with a behemoth contract when most teams already have solid starters locked up and he gets to dictate which team that he goes to? I mean, does anyone really expect he’d be willing to waive for Tampa Bay or Columbus? Not really.

I really like Cory and hope the Canucks keep him and play both him and Lu throughout the next season. I know it isn’t likely, but I sincerely hope it. I remember the times when we never had a single good goalie and now we have two great goalies. Really want it to continue.

As a Winnipegger it was really a pleasure to watch this guy develop for 2 years in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose. It’s been great to see him play as well as he has this year. For the last years he spent 2 in the minors & 2 with Vancouver, as a blue chip prospect whose developed into the player he was hyped up to be & has been the consummate professional despite being behind a goalie hes been outplaying. Class act all the way

Ya before the start of the season I remember pundits saying that despite how great a prospect Schneider was his actual asking price wouldnt be that much because of the glut of goaltenders available and because goalies just werent garnering that much out there.

Fast forward to today and it’s been kind of cool seeing a blue chip prospect develop to an out right NHL goaltending star (Gad knows we’ve seen so many “prospects” fizzle) who’s clearly got what it takes to not only compiment a dressing room but more than likely be a dominant leader of one at some point. One way or another, as a trade bait or starting goaltending, he’s going to have a huge impact on the future of this team.

There’s no guarantee that he leaves Vancouver; the management team loves him here and he’s loved in the locker room. If Luongo has another shaky playoffs how do you sell it to the dressing room that you are going to go back to him for a 4th straight year of shaky playoff performances? At some point his play will become an elephant in the room, and there are plenty of teams that will take a goalie of his stature for the right price.

Great goalie, and he says all the right things. Total team player, total class act. I am really interested in seeing what kidn of return this kid can bring us in a trade, because by now the other GMs ought to know this kids worth. If he takes over from Lou in the cup run and absolutely shines, this kids value will be through the roof.

oh yeah and Lou is a good goalie too, and nucks fans suck.

Well, Brough, to be fair, you should give Luongo’s stats to show his consistency throughout the year and that they are also pretty good. And of late, apart from Tuesday’s gong show vs. the Ducks, his numbers have been pretty stellar too.

And let’s be fair re: Tuesday – the defence was horrible (Gragnani, hello?) and apart from the stinker Luongo let in on Getlaf’s shot, the other goals were quality goals (again, in large part due to the shoddy, defensive breakdowns).

I like Schneider and would like to see him get a chance to play in the post season. I just don’t think the tar and feathering of Luongo has been fair. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with Canuck fans? Should we call back the glorious tandem of Cloutier and Auld? Good grief.

That’s really nice of you to say, Cory; however, you only say it because you know you’ll be in net before the end of game 1. Luongo sucks in the playoffs and he seems to be right on track, based on Tuesdays game.
