Video: Crosby scores three points in loose Pens-Bruins game

Apr 4, 2012, 12:25 AM EDT

NBC Sports Network carried two contests full of top-tier talent without huge playoff implications. What did that mean? A lot of goals – most of them coming from sloppiness.

For people with a lot of Jacques Lemaire in their souls, that hockey might have been disgraceful. The rest of us probably at least partially enjoyed the chaos. Check out highlights of the game below to get the synopsis of all the wild scoring in a 5-3 Pittsburgh Penguins win against the Boston Bruins.

The Anaheim Ducks-Vancouver Canucks is shaping up to be similar – if not a bit more competitive – so expect an update with video of that game in this post later tonight.

Any reports on Letang’s neck after the possible whiplash from embellishing that high stick call?

I guess everyone in Philadelphia is a whiner now a days.

Looks like the stick grazed his face a little – but no question Letang was going to make sure that the refs noticed it…

Question to the commenters: is doing something like what Letang did a savvy play or a cheap play? My vote is savvy and I would put it in the same vain as trying to draw a retaliation penalty, or something like that. I am also willing to acknowledge my bias as a Pens fan on this particular play….

It probably depends on whether the team you root for gets the call or not I would imagine. Speaking for myself, I wouldn’t like it if someone on my team did it. Also, I think it depends on the play too. Letang was just over the top in his reaction and it looks even worse on the slow mo. He didn’t throw his head back until well after the stick had left his shoulder, and he dropped to his knees like his head was almost taken off. It also gave the Pens almost a full two minutes of 5 on 3 in a tie hockey game. I’m not even sure the stick did graze his head at all.

i would say this particular instance is borderline only because im not sure the stick actually hit his face. every team is going to try to draw penalties like this. cant get mad at it. keep your sticks down and things like this do not happen.

It was such a violent high stick from Peverley, I figured there would be a report on his condition today. It’s funny when they showed the end ice camera view, the ref had no vision of the actual contact, just saw the stick up and Letang almost decapitated.

Boston fans cheering when Vitale got hit in the head with the puck. Anyone surprised?
