Regardless of who is voting and where they are watching the games from, it’s absolutely clear that the Kings wouldn’t be anywhere near where they were without Quick bailing them out time after time. If not the Vezina, he should AT LEAST be considered for MVP, just for that reason. He has been the single biggest difference maker on any team in the league. The numbers are right there to be seen above everyone else, with shutouts standing out the most. While there is definitely an east coast bias in the media, I do believe that the GMs vote on the Vezina, and Quick has been stellar against virtually every team around. He should get some hardware when it’s all said and done, but all of the individual ones would look very minuscule next to that big silver one. But hey, go get all of em Quicky. The offense just needs to keep scoring to make it easier for you to do so.

That is how I felt in 07-08 when Nabokov was the clear winner. More wins, more shutouts, better GAA than Brodeur. But Brodeur won because all the voters who don’t really care see a Brodeur or a Lundquist on the Ballot and give it to him. I played against Quick once when he was at Avon and he shut us out, and now I hate to see him against the sharks cause he’s ridiculous. But i’d still be Hank wins.

Been saying this for a while now. Assuming LA wins division, hell I’ll say even just the playoffs, he should easily be Hart candidate, and I think he should win. Without Quick LA would be nothing.

That said Doughty is completely correct and he should win the Vezina but won’t. The idiots overlooking him because of his teams stifling defense should also toss Lundqvist out for the same reason.

It’s got nothing to do with whether its a large market, an established market, or even if they’ve got a huge fan base …which LA has all of the above … its about the mass concentration of voting media members on the East Coast.

At the end of the day, it’s just a simple fact that a lot of Easterners arent watching West Coast games and if they do its PVR’d for highlights.

Doughty’s spot on, if Quick played for a major Canadian market or a big Eastern market the talk of a goalie winning the Vezina and Hart in the same year would be deafening.

Quick is absolutely amazing and is by far the best goalie this year. If Quick doesn’t win the Vezina, I will strongly consider boycotting the sport of hockey
