Homer might have made a couple of stupid mistakes, but if he resigns Carle, that would be the biggest mistake as a GM. Let someone else overpay for him.

Kubina played pretty well in most games (he has had a couple of off games) but Carle has sucked out loud since he got here (probably before that, too, since two teams have already given up on him). I hope Holmgren doesn’t even make an offer to him. If Meszaros can come back for the playoffs and Grossmann is healthy, the Flyers could scratch Carle and keep Bourdon and Gustafsson in the mix the defense will be solid. Bryzgalov will do fine.

Thank you so much. Matt Carle seems like a good guy off the ice but as a player I hate him. I get so caught up in games sometimes looking for him to make mistakes and he never fails. He is terrible at clearing the puck, a sub par passer and when he shoots from the point, 90% of the time his shot is blocked or wide of the net. I can’t wait till he plays elsewhere next year. Pronger and Mez have carried him in the past and it was so obvious in the second half last year when Pronger was out. He blows. Good riddance.

IDK, Kubina’s been kind of a bust here since the trade. Either that or he’s been hanging around Matt Carle too much. Either way, both of them are gone next year.

The fact that they are missing Pronger, Meszarjos, and Grossmann couldn’t possibly have contributed to the defense struggling? They’ve been scrambling and using rookie d-men ever since Pronger went out. As soon as they make some trades (Kubina, Grossmann), they then lose 2 more solid d-men. It’s not that they lack defense, they just lack healthy defenseman.

Welcome to the reason Philly’s not a real Cup contender this year. With some defensive changes in the offseason, they very much could be, but they’re just not capable of defending themselves on the scoreboard. They’re almost the new Capitals. If Bryz is on an insane hot streak they’re terrifying, but as soon as he stumbles they implode. It’s funny – a couple months ago everyone blamed him for being the major reason they were so inconsistent, but he’s not. It’s the defense. He’s kind of hit and miss, but the D in front of him? They’re pretty much miss and miss. They give him NO room for error.

Ilya Bryzgalov is basically Jonathan Quick East.

Bryz didn’t have much help in the first period. Two rebound goals for the Rangers. Callahan pushed Coburn down then picked up an easy rebound.
