Video: NBC previews probable Penguins-Flyers series

Apr 2, 2012, 8:27 PM EST

Former Flyers player Keith Jones previewed Pittsburgh and Philadelphia’s final regular season game and their probable matchup in the first round. You can check out his analysis below.

One of the points he made that I’d like to highlight is the fact that the Penguins have won just one of their five meetings versus Philadelphia this season. In each of their last two contests, the Penguins have jumped to a 2-0 lead against the Flyers, but still lost. With that in mind, even if it turns out that Saturday’s game can’t impact either team’s place in the standings, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Penguins went all-out. I doubt they really want to have a 1-4-1 record against the Flyers going into the playoffs.

This one is gonna be epic!!! LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!

    • napoleonblownapart6887 - Apr 3, 2012 at 9:20 AM

I hope it goes 7 – should be good old fashioned playoff hockey.

Hartnell and Neal each with 4 goals – Sid and Giroux lead each team in helpers.

      Pens in 6.

  2. obamablowz - Apr 2, 2012 at 10:19 PM

Flyers in 6 no matter who has home advantage.

  3. bobhpine - Apr 3, 2012 at 12:26 AM

The flyers never win the stanley cup

    • phillyhatesyou - Apr 3, 2012 at 12:34 AM

wow bob i dont think i’ve ever heard you say that before. you continue to come up with the most original things to say. thank you for your incredible insight on anything flyers.

      • ml3939 - Apr 3, 2012 at 10:05 AM

I think original bob is gonna set you up for a 1975. Watch out! bob is upset the Penguins have appeared in 180 less playoff games than the Flyers and many April, May’s and June’s he is stuck gardening with his wife while Flyers fans have a reason to watch TV. Or maybe he is just upset that he roots for a sub .500 franchise. Maybe he is upset his team loses games on purpose. Maybe he is upset that the Flyers accumulated more points against the Penguins than any other franchise and are 60 games over .500 against the Penguins.

    @ml3939

thanks for all those awesome numbers, but would you mind showing me the hardware? youre team is a consistent choker in the playoffs. Now I do agree over history the Flyers have performed better, but you have nothing to show for it. You and all of the Filthy Flyer fans know it.

    • ml3939 - Apr 3, 2012 at 3:49 PM

The Flyers have 2 Cups. The Pens have 3 Cups. I cannot deny the truth of that. Not much difference between 2 and 3. Every other number clearly points to Philly being the much more successful franchise. Pittsburgh only has a franchise because they lost games on purpose so they could draft Lemieux. No integrity. Had things gone down the way they should have your second rate city would be left with 2 teams.

      • ottograham - Apr 3, 2012 at 4:00 PM

Well things didnt go down that way and here we are. Elite.

      • ml3939 - Apr 3, 2012 at 4:05 PM

I guess elite has been redefined and cheapened. I will give Montreal and Detroit elite status. Pittsburgh is not even close. Historically Pittsburgh is a dreadful franchise. Anything before 1990 was a joke. The Pens were even on the wrong side of one of those historic 3-0 comebacks in the playoffs.

    @Ottograham

Okay mouth breather, here’s the bottom line. Last year Sh*ttsburgh got DOMINATED by the Flyers like Bobhpine’s mother does at a bukkake party. This year, same story. This isn’t a rivalry because one team aint competitive, and we know which one it is.

Now get back to manning those fry baskets jerkoff……

  6. ottograham - Apr 3, 2012 at 12:40 PM

^ insightful and intellectual as you may seem with your pretencious comments and anger. Still havent seen hardware in the FIlthy since 75… back to my fry basket I go.

  7. genopringlesandbobhpinemolestboys - Apr 3, 2012 at 1:58 PM

Says the pot to the kettle, you actually think your stupidity angers me? Such hubris…..

Nah, you’re just another Sh*ttsburgh homer who can’t deal with reality. And I punk out losers like you for the entertainment of real sports fans.

    Game, set & match.

  8. ottograham - Apr 3, 2012 at 2:18 PM

game, set, & match says the troll with the lack of continuity in his statements. Believe, correct me if Im wrong, Pittsburgh won the cup a few seasons back. Its been close to a half a century since the orange has. So pot is saying nothing to the kettle. If we were perennial losers year in and out then yes I would agree. Punking out losers like me? not sure how you figure. But being a filthy Filthadelphian full of pride I will show mercy on your lack of intelligence and ability.

  9. ottograham - Apr 3, 2012 at 2:20 PM

I do not doubt the ability of your team, but I definitely think we are a better squad overall. Especially without a healthy Briere. Nick Kronwall and Joe Vitale say keep your head up in the nuetral zone lady.

  10. genopringlesandbobhpinemolestboys - Apr 3, 2012 at 2:44 PM

Yes Otto, you are the epitome of a loser. Having someone else’s name? Yeah you should be taken seriously…..

As for having the better squad? Just answer this then dumbass, what’s the Penguins record against the Flyers? this season? Last season? How about overall?

But please, keep amusing us with your ignorance….

  11. ottograham - Apr 3, 2012 at 2:51 PM

well if I havent made this point yet I will now. I am absolutely aware of the dominance the Flyers have over the Pens in history. I will openly admit that. Im ignorant to what the win-loss percentage is in the recent decade, but Id be very surprised if it is as dominant as the previous 4 decades before that. IDK what youre trying to say exactly. Seems like youre too caught up in name calling and degradation than having a debate. If youre gonn talk all the win-loss then lets hear the numbers lady. Feel free to spend as much time googling as youd like. You clearly need all the intellectual help you can get.

Not sure if you know who Ottograham is but I think he took your mother out for a seafood dinner once and never called her again. He also won 10 NFL championships in his day. Id say hes well worth a username.

  12. genopringlesandbobhpinemolestboys - Apr 3, 2012 at 3:26 PM

Critiquing someone else’s intellect when you can’t use apostrophes and spell “gonn”? Priceless! You just keep proving my points kid. The funny thing is Sh*ttsburgh fans like you act “tough guy” on the internet, but in real life you keep your ****sucker shut around Philadelphia fans. So again jackhole, just explain why you think Sissy Crosby & the rest of your chokers are so superior over the Flyers, especially the the stats indicate otherwise….

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and fill your mother’s water bowl.
