Video: Hartnell taunts Penguins fan dressed up like Hulk Hogan

Apr 1, 2012, 4:39 PM EDT

Scott Hartnell couldn’t resist taunting the Pittsburgh Penguins’ fans during the Flyers’ 6-4 victory on Sunday, especially with a man dressed up like Hulk Hogan wearing a Penguins’ jersey near the Flyers’ bench. You can check it out below:

Hartnell took to twitter to continue the fun after the game. He had four straight tweets that either referenced Hulk Hogan or used the hashtag Hulkamania including, “Almost had to give someone Hulksters classic finishing move #Thelegdrop hahahahaahahah. Just kidding.”

Looks like Hartnell’s ready for the Flyers’ first round series against the Penguins.

What’s with the one guy in the Whalers jersey there too? “I’m going to the Pens Flyers game, so which jersey should I wear? Hartford Whalers it is!”

    • pacoj68 - Apr 1, 2012 at 7:13 PM

Proof that Hockey Fans just love to find things to complain about.

I wasn’t aware that there was a dress code when going to a NHL Hockey Game.

      • elvispocomo - Apr 3, 2012 at 2:26 PM

It’s just that it’s so random – not a complaint but rather a question.

Mike Richards got into a tweet war with this guy before too I think

  3. crosberries - Apr 1, 2012 at 5:30 PM

Wow Hartnell real tough trying to fight a guy who is battling cancer stay classy philthy

    • tcclark - Apr 1, 2012 at 5:46 PM

“Stay classy philthy,” says the guy trying to treat the man like he’s so delicate and fragile. Why don’t you let the guy feel normal for once and let him forget that he’s fighting for his life. I’m sure he’d much rather be the Hulk Hogan look-a-like, than the guy with cancer.

    • danglex - Apr 1, 2012 at 7:03 PM

Stay classy? The game is out of reach so the penguins send their goons out (Asham and Engelland) to injure skill players. Then the extremely classy Pitt fans throw things onto the ice and bench. Yeah really classy you useless tool.

I wouldn’t say hart ell was trying to pick a fight…ou go to a game dressed as hulk hogan isn’t tha exactly why you’re hoping for?

  4. hockinj25 - Apr 1, 2012 at 5:42 PM

How does everyone know he has cancer? And even if he does, that doesn’t mean he is exempt from people making fun of him.

    • ravenscaps48 - Apr 1, 2012 at 5:54 PM

      Well Played

  5. fcs34 - Apr 1, 2012 at 6:18 PM

Hartnell is so dumb he actually thinks that was Hulk Hogan

    • steelwarriors55 - Apr 1, 2012 at 7:10 PM

the kind of dumbass you’d take on your team

      • fcs34 - Apr 1, 2012 at 8:06 PM

Yes. Yes I would. Gotta love hockey.

  6. brycewest - Apr 1, 2012 at 6:26 PM

The fan in question? His name is Cy Clark, and he’s a die-hard Pens fan, who has made a reputation for himself by making gag jerseys of our opponents and being one HELL of a human being. Pen’s fans are well aware of his struggles, and fuggin’ with him is kinda off limits. But then again, it was Hartnell…guys only been walking upright for like 3 years now. And if players are given carte blanche to react to the fans? Well, have you ever seen the crowds at the Wells Fargo Center? It’s like a Palsy convention. I’ve never seen so many window lickers in one place, that didn’t require sedatives and straight jackets.

    • hockinj25 - Apr 1, 2012 at 6:56 PM

Nearly every organization has a guy like this. If you don’t want to be made fun of, don’t dress like an idiot.

    • danglex - Apr 1, 2012 at 7:05 PM

If you haven’t realized from this game, Pens fans are scum. Throwing things onto the ice. The players are scum as well.

      • Buffalo Grumblings - Apr 1, 2012 at 9:44 PM

and Philly fans are the classiest in sports

    • flyersgoalscoredby88 - Apr 1, 2012 at 7:58 PM

I would say that’s more having fun with the fans than picking on a guy

      • danglex - Apr 1, 2012 at 9:31 PM

        That’s exactly what it was.

    • tcclark - Apr 1, 2012 at 9:45 PM

Making fun of guys with cancer is off limits, but let’s make fun of people with Cerebral Palsy. Classy Pittsburgh

      • ikillchicken - Apr 1, 2012 at 11:53 PM

Uh…no. Take it from a guy who doesn’t even like the Flyers. That’s just moronic. It’s obviously not okay to actually make fun of the fact that someone has cancer. Having cancer doesn’t magically make a guy totally off limits though for general, unrelated mockery though. Especially if the dude chooses to go to the game in a silly costume and mock you first. That’s just nonsense.

And honestly, lets cut the bull here. You guys don’t give a damn about people with cancer being made fun of. You’re just looking for a convenient excuse to criticize Flyers fans. The fact that you’d trivialize this guy’s cancer by using it as such an excuse is itself pretty damn classless.

      • tcclark - Apr 2, 2012 at 12:36 AM

did you mean to reply to me? Mine was sarcasm. I totally agree with you…. I’m a Flyers Fan

      • ikillchicken - Apr 2, 2012 at 3:44 AM

No, sorry. I must have clicked the wrong reply button.

    • flyersfan28 - Apr 1, 2012 at 10:37 PM

Is Hartnell supposed to know the guy has cancer. Just because he has cancer doesn’t make him off limits if he is dressed like an almost expired wrestler.

Pittsburgh fans are like the penguin players….a bunch of tools.

      • flyersgoalscoredby88 - Apr 1, 2012 at 11:56 PM

        Pittsburg players aren’t all tools…

      • tcclark - Apr 2, 2012 at 12:39 AM

yeah like…. uh… Paul Martin? Is Paul Martin a tool?

    • kellyb9 - Apr 2, 2012 at 9:24 AM

So this guy makes a “gag” jersey that makes him look like Hulk Hogan and Hartnell makes fun of it… I would think the guy should be flattered…. Hartnell got the gag.

  7. hartsy19 - Apr 2, 2012 at 8:45 AM

I was just havin fun with him boys, lets all take a deep breath and relax.

  8. michiganhockey11 - Apr 2, 2012 at 10:06 AM

He looked like he was just having fun with the guy. His own guys on the bench were getting a chuckle out of it. At least he’s not uptight about it and can joke around a bit. Nobody likes a stiff.

  9. markcycy - Apr 2, 2012 at 11:14 AM

    Hey everyone,

Can we take a step back from all this disease talk. The only disease we should be talking about is our disease for hockey. It has consumed all of us. So lets relax and keep this exchange on the level it was intended. Its a dude who loves the pens busting balls to a hated rival. Its Hartnell having fun with a guy he knows from his other visits into pitt.
LETS all have fun . Sports is an escape from our real lives.

    lets go flyers

    • hartsy19 - Apr 2, 2012 at 11:16 AM

Literally thought the exact same thing when I read through the comments, but I was too lazy to type my thought out. Well said sir & let’s go Flyers

      • markcycy - Apr 2, 2012 at 11:24 AM

Yah man .. Lets go flyers . Hope we take care of business this week with another hated rival the Rangers… I love our division

    • michiganhockey11 - Apr 2, 2012 at 1:06 PM

So does that mean that the cure for the disease is more cowbell?

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself there with the Christopher Walken reference.
