You are wrong, you know, there is no curse to the NHL series. Lets look at history, shall we.
Kelly Hrudey, who was the first NHL cover athelte, sustained wins, but allowed more goals. He wasn't really cursed, just nothing happened for the Kings.
NHLPA Hockey 93, the second NHL game had 3 men on the cover, Brind'Amour, Richter and Randy Mollet. Brind'Amour had more goals and more game winners than he's ever had. Richter did worse. Randy Moller was worse, so you could say a curse was growing. NHL 94, the best NHL game until the 360-PS3 era, had Tomas Sandstrom and Andy Moog, Sandstrom maintained his play, even though he was traded to the Penguins. Andy Moog, had an average 3.27, also had 24 wins in a transition year to Dallas. NHL 95 came out to start the 1994-95 NHL season and featured Alexei Kovalev and Kirk McLean on the cover. Though, Kovalev had less goal due to injury, he still helped the Rangers down the stretch. Kirk McLean, who was the goalie goal scored on the cover, McLean had one of his best GAA seasons, posting a 2.75. NHL 96, started the 1995-96 season, had Scott Stevens and Steve Yzerman battling for the puck, Yzerman was electric with 95 points. Stevens maintained his no negative +/- streak alive having a +7. NHL 97 would begin the trend of 1 player-1 cover. Starting with John Vanbiesbrouck and the Rat Trick Florida Panthers. Vanbiesbrouck had a 2.87, which was okay and helped the Panthers in games they probably should've lost. 98 had Peter Forsberg, had 94 points, better than the year before, and help them in the playoffs. 99' had Eric Lindros he had 83 points and got the Flyers in to the playoffs, something they didn't do for his "cover" season. In 1999-00, for NHL 2000, Pronger had 62 points, the most of his career. In 2000-01 for NHL 01, Owen Nolan of the Sharks was on the cover. Nolan had 75 points, and did okay in the playoffs, nothing like the year before, but that stuff happens, he only played 57 games. 2002 had Mario LEMIEUX(hey, that rhymes). In his 2001-02 campaign, injuries plagued his season, so, I guess that goes in your favor in the "Curse" idea. In the 2002-03 season, Iginla's season was shorten, but he still played well, 67 points. I might need to get holy water for this. Well, the 2003-04 season had 3 cover athletes. Originally, Joe Thornton was supposed to grace the cover. He assualted two police officers, allegedly. So, Heatley's cover was printed(I still have NHL 2004 with Heatley), he returned and got 31 games and played well in those 31. 25 points in 31 games. Sakic had 87 points, which got him an all-star seed in St. Paul. Two different covers for NHL 2005, the lockout season, Markus Näslund in North America/Worldwide and Olli Jokinen in Europe. I'm not even going to talk about that year. In NHL 06, for the 2005-06 season, Vincent Lecavalier of the Bolts got the US/Canadian cover and Tuomo Ruutu, then with Chicago, got the European/Worldwide cover. Ruutu had a terrible season. Lecavalier had a good season, not great, but good. NHL 07 was the first NHL game to have 3 different cover(NHL 99 had Pronger, Naslund. NHL 2000 had Nolan and Jere Lehtinen). NHL 07 had Alexander Ovechkin in North America, Europe(except Finland and Sweden); Henrik Lundqvist had Sweden and The Finnish Flash Teemu Selanne had his first cover. Alexander Ovechkin had his career high in goals and points that year with 65 goals and 112 points, got the Capitals in the playoffs for the first time in his career. 2007-08 wasn't good for Teemu, his production slowed down for the first time since 2000-01. Henrik Lundqvist, had a 2.23 GAA his NHL career low...so far, and got his NYC moniker, "King Henrik". NHL 08 had as much as covers as NHL 10, a lot. Eric Staal had the US/Canada cover. Jaromir Jagr had Europe except Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. Eric Staal scored 82 points, which would never be as high as of 2007. Jaromir Jagr got hurt, but he almost matched his career high, but got hurt 55 games in the season. Mark Streit was in his final year in Montreal, he had played almost a full year, and got 62 points. The Big Z had his career high in points and goals. NHL 09 had Dion Phaneuf with Calgary worldwide, Alexander Ovechkin had the Russian cover and Alfredsson of the Sens was the Swedish cover. Phaneuf was okay that year. Ovechkin was Ovechkin. Alfredsson was a good leader, but not a points leader. NHL 10 in the 2009-10 season had, Patrick Kane worldwide, he was the first American on the cover since NHL 97 with Vanbiesbrouck. The first cover just for Denmark, had Mikkel Boedker of the Coyotes. Finland has Mikko Koivu of Minnesota. Mark Streit graces the cover again in Switzerland and Nicklas Backstrom had the Swedish cover. Kane had a cup season and had the game winning SCF goal. Boedker, had a weak season. Koivu had a good 2009-10 campaign, having his career high 71 points. Streit had 49 points, which isn't that great, but played all 82 games. Backstrom had 101 points, mostly to Ovechkin, had his career high goals and assists with 33 goals and 68 points. NHL 11 had Conn Smythe winner and Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews , making it the first year-to-year teammate cover athletes ever in the NHL series. In Sweden, The Sedins graced the cover. In Switzerland, Mark Streit had the cover honors for a third time, beating Teemu Selanne for the most covers of 1 player. Toews had his career high in points and assists. Mark Streit did not play that year. Daniel had 41 goals and 63 assists in 82 games he played, a career high in goals. Henrik had 94 points, a career high in assists. NHL 12 had young superstar, Steven Stamkos worldwide. Jonas Hiller had the Swiss cover. The first two men-two cover athletes since NHL 06. Stamkos is going for 60 goals and Hiller has a 2.52 GAA.
So as you can see, the notion of the cover curse doesn't exactly exist in the NHL.

No, no, quite the opposite! You misread me- if anything, I wonder how bad that team would be if he WASN'T scoring near-nightly. He's the bright point on an otherwise god-awful year in Tampa.

And yes, Roloson was a bad idea. Guess what the Lightning need to go shopping for in the offseason?

HAHA, I can only laugh at my Wild's options. Sadly there are non better, maybe you can add Yakupov on there for us seeing as we will win the draft

:) Here's to dreaming about Yakupov! lol

I honestly think they should add RNH in his Red Deer Rebels jersey and push hard for their be a pro mode (start in the CHL).

Can you really blame Stamkos for the Lightning's collapse? It's truly not his fault they're not in the playoffs. Blame Stevie Y for putting the whole year on a 42 year old goalie.

Nah, Stamkos still counts as a curse. He's having a monster year, but he's golfing in a week and a half despite having been to Game 7 of the Eastern Finals last year. That's got to count for curse-worthy, right?

You know what has my attention? Look at the Capitals. Think of all the players who could be listed there. And it's Carlson v. Laich? Really?
