PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Danny Briere has struggled all season long. Can he break a season-long slump in time for the playoffs? The Flyers sure hope so. (CSNPhilly.com)

Hey everybody, the Flames are back in the playoff hunt again! (Globe And Mail)

Meanwhile, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post is ready to toss the dirt on Colorado’s season. (Denver Post)

Nashville is just one point away from clinching their spot in the postseason. (Tennessean)

Vincent Lecavalier really can’t wait to get back in the Lightning lineup, regardless of how they’re doing. (Tampa Tribune)

Dan Ellis is ready to play for Anaheim…. But it doesn’t even really matter anymore. (OC Register)

Ken Hitchcock’s life is hard. He’s got so many great options to use at forward now that everyone is healthy. Poor guy. (Post-Dispatch)

Guys might be struggling in Toronto under Randy Carlyle but at least Dave Steckel is doing all right. (TSN)

Finally, ever wonder what it’s like when a beat reporter gets to meet the person behind their parody Twitter account? Wonder no longer as CSNPhilly.com’s Tim Panaccio meets “@faketpanotch” in real life. (CSNPhilly.com)

Shouldn’t have lost last night. Bryz played like he had been before March 1st. That lost scares me, a lot.

Uh, no he didn’t. I guess you didn’t watch the game.

Well, you’re partially right. I missed the majority of the second period. But what I did see, I did not enjoy. Bryz’s save percentage last night? 0.714

Granted the empty net goal, and the Carle turnover goal weren’t Bryz’s fault, he could have played much better.

Also, the fact that they lost to a Tampa team who had NINE REGULARS who didn’t dress last night is what scares me the most. How can we expect to get past the Bruins/Rangers/Pens if we can’t beat a banged up Lightning squad?

    • panotchpulitzer - Mar 27, 2012 at 2:58 PM

When your defense allows numerous breakaways and chances right in front of the net, you have virtually zero chance as a goaltender. There were no bad goals last night. Save percentage isn’t always an indication of goaltender play.

Cause two breakaways are entirely his fault also. None of the goals were his fault.

no its over for dan briere he will never be the same and the whole team will regress badly next season my guy tells me after a quick 5 game ousting in first round off playoff they will clean house again

I’ll be concerned come playoffs. Who cares whether they finish 4 or 5? Less pressure starting on the road anyway.
