That contract is just awful. Even if he’s having an off season this year, never in his life has he played THAT well. One hopes they can find a team to deal him to. Could always try to fleece Brian Burke or Jay Feaster. Or Scott Howson, for that matter. Plenty of saps to go around!

Yes, the Avs are young, but they are very inconsistant. This is a team that’s had two big hot streaks and at least two big cold streaks as well.

If his contract is that big of an issue I’m sure they could find a team willing to take on a young centre with his upside. If the new CBA allows the Avs to take on part of his contract in a trade then that would make it even easier.

Some nights they look pretty amazing, like when they beat Anaheim a couple of weeks ago. And some nights they look more flat than a week-old Coke. Inconsistency is a surefire way to miss the playoffs, sadly.

(I didn’t even have to click the article to know it had to be Dater ripping the Avs a new one. He’s made a habit of it the past few years, not that he’s had any shortage of material to use.)
