Exactly. HD cameras are so good and there’s so many in the arenas that reviews often don’t take very long. I don’t buy the ‘slowing the game down’ excuse for a second. Even if it does take an extra few minutes to get the call right that’s fine by me.

Fraser is exactly right with what he says. Even following the letter of the rule there was no reason for this goal not to count, and the ref right by the net allowed the goal. His call was overturned by a ref at center ice who didn’t have anywhere close to as good a view. How does that make any sense? The NHL really needs to get its head out of its ass when it comes to how games are being officiated.

And while this didn’t matter much in this game, what if this was a playoff game? Hell…. what if this was a game seven? Think about it.

So true. I know the NHL is leary about adding more video reviews and slowing the game down, but it should be about getting the call right. If the puck goes in the net, the call should be reviewable, and its idiotic for it not to be.

Seems like Fraser is awfully vocal lately about how he thinks his former co-workers are doing things wrong. If his opinion is different, great, but if I were an NHL ref I’d remember this crap when it comes time to send out christmas cards.

I didn’t like the call, but I wouldn’t like having my work critiqued by a former co-worker on national TV either.

Goalie interference needs to be open to video review when a goal is involved. So many times this season and in the past we’ve seen refs flat-out miss calls and cost teams goals or allow ones that clearly shouldn’t count.
