Ever wondered what an opera version of O Canada would sound like?

Mar 24, 2012, 8:51 PM EDT

So the Ottawa Senators decided to get opera singer Measha Brueggergosman to provide her version of the national anthems before Saturday’s game and it was, well, unique. The Canada’s Got Talent judge took two minutes to get through O Canada and the shots of players on both benches grinning and covering their faces suggests that it did successfully put them in a good mood. So I guess that’s a plus?

You can watch a full version on Deadspin if you’re so inclined.

I personally enjoyed when they showed the players on the benches trying not to laugh

What the hell was that noise she made at 18 seconds? Truly horrific.

Doesn’t Vancouver have a male opera singer for every game?

He is a legend in Vancouver. I love how he finishes Oh Canada on a high note.

That wasn’t bad because it was opera, it was bad because it was really really bad
