I not saying there isnt stuipidity on both sides, but today the stuipidity is being demonstrated by Keith defenders.

The Sedin hit happens every single game. There is incedental head contact during a hit. Its like holding in the NFL. EVERY SINGLE GAME HAS IT.

The Keith hit is a 5 times a year epic head shot hit.

Its not homerism. Its a fact from a Senators fan. Anyone who doesnt undstand the facts is either willfully blind or just plain stuipid or a homer. Those are the choices.

Thank you CH3 for setting up my point perfectly. I distinctly remember Canucks fan vehemently defending Torres and the hit as clean.

I’m just pointing out the contradiction. Especially since Torres was just coming off a suspension for that type of play.

You guys realize the puck took a weird, higher-than-normal bounce off the boards, and that that elbow was up because he was blindly swinging (which he shouldn’t have done)? But yes, the elbow to the head is ugly and the exact kind of thing the NHL is right to try to minimize. That will get you two games, three tops. (First-time offender)

But let’s stop pretending that Duncan Keith is some old-school dirty enforcer.

And pick a lane, Canucks. You can’t swarm a guy away from the linesmen, pull his hair and try to knee him in the groin, and then become outraged at that guy’s dirty play. Especially when Sedin himself took a run at Keith earlier in a game.

That said, to consider Sedin’s hit simply “high and sloppy” could be construed pretty easily as a fair dose of homerism as well. If you consider a typical forward’s challenge to be late and targeting the head of an unsuspecting player then I guess that’s typical.

Sedin’s hit is by no means in the same class as Keith’s, but it’s still absolutely the type of Matt Cooke-esque blindside job that the league would have you believe they are trying to get rid of.

Not for nothing, but if you actually watched the game, when the cut to him after the hit, he was basically demonstrating what he said.

Where’s the puck Keith? You’re a defencemen, that generally means you back up when the puck bounces off the boards. Where the point of contact? Why are you hanging out a chicken wing while attempting to intefere/tie-up your man?

BTW, I’d love to see the ref assessment on this one. If Keith received a major, the entire game might have calmed down. Instead, poor refereeing (“gee guys, he nailed him good in the head so let’s give him an elbow minor”) prevails.

Seriously, the officials have suddenly started calling ridiculous GK interference across the league, but does that tie up too much grey matter to allow them to remember that a head shot is a major+misconduct?
