Yeah- I mentioned that incident. And for the record- thornton is not clutch. You say family loving softies like your glorifying violence at sporting events as some representation of being bad-ass and awesome. There is violence at all sporting events- due to the minority of trouble making fans- but it tends to take a lot for a fan base to get a reputation as being classless. Although thanks for stepping in and supporting there argument- fans like you help make sure that we don't mistake sporting events get confused as a fun environment for families but rather as a knuckle-dragging test of manhood! cheers!

I'm a HUGE Sharks fan but you would be a little naive to think that we're a bunch of family loving softies. You want a good example of Sharks fans getting carried away? How about the Sharks fan who knocked out the Canucks fan with the BRAIN TUMOR. Not just any drunken Canucks fan too, a 16 YEAR OLD GIRL.

I love the Sharks as a team and I love going to the games because they're so wild and raucous, but the Bay Area has a kind of unspoken tendency towards some violence at their sporting events. (See Giants-Dodgers games, Giants-As games, 49ers-Raiders games, actually any Raiders game.)

I'm a Kings fan and I can say I never have had problems with Sharks fans at the games...now, Vancouver fans and Detroit fans, that's another story. But Chicago and San Jose and have all been pretty good for the most part.

As you said, every fan base has their a-hole contingent.

I'm a Sharks fan- I won't disagree with you- I'm just a little surprised. When did the Sharks or the fan base get this reputation. What incidents have there really been? To be fair- every sports franchise in every city has their share of a-holes- everyone knows that. But I see Vancouver fans rioting, Philly fans fighting (PS- I will say without a doubt that Philly fans are assholes- don't flip out- I know there's a lot of good people out there rooting for Philadelphia teams- but your obnoxious fans are easily spotted and get a lot of press- its like I'm a Raiders fan- and I won't deny that we have a lot of trash rooting for the team that seem to make a point of being classless- same seems to go for Philly). But I wasn't aware of Sharks fans being classless- I do recall that incident on Prohockeytalk with that teenage Vancouver fan last year- but as a whole the atmosphere at Sharks games is extremely family friendly. I'm just wondering-is there a basis for this argument- or do you just no like the Sharks?

NO KIDDING EH ?

It's been well known for years that the Sharks and their fans are a "classless" bunch and so this disturbing footage doesn't surprise me at all. In fact, here's another bit of footage which was captured on camera by a friend of mine earlier in the season here in Vancouver ... it was taken right after a Canucks-Sharks game, as a group of Canucks fans were simply asking Joe Thornton for his autograph ...
