Actually, the fights right off the draw reminded me an awful lot about Slapshot. That’s immediately what I thought of seeing 6 guys square off with each other. It was pretty cool to see, stagged or not.

James, it would be sick to see a guy get speared, but it probably wouldn’t happen in a fight. Too easy to see it coming. Maybe in an open ice hit, but the guy driving his shoulder would probably have it dislocated by the force of the other player coming at him. Don’t get me wrong, seeing that happen would get me jumping on my couch like Tom Cruise.

Well if Goldberg liked it… For real, I can see why Tortorella didn’t like it, but from a guy who wants the NHL to do well, it got people talking about hockey, the fights were fair, and it was followed by a great hockey game. Win all around.
