06-07, 07-08, and this year if he reports are his only accrued seasons. He was drafted in 04, so I guess that would give him his 4 years if the cancelled season counts as a year. So if Nashville qualifies him before season end, do they squat on his rights again, or does he become a UFA?

FREE AGENCY

How will Free Agency work?

Unrestricted Free Agency – For the 2005-06 season, a player age 31 with four accrued seasons will be an unrestricted free agent; in 2006-07, a player age 29 with four accrued seasons or with eight accrued seasons; in 2007-08, a player age 28 with four accrued seasons or with seven accrued seasons; beginning in 2008-09 and for the duration of the agreement, a player age 27 with four accrued seasons or with seven accrued seasons will be an unrestricted free agent. For purposes of qualifying for unrestricted free agency, the 2004-05 cancelled season will be counted as a year of accrued service.

So I’m guessing he qualifies under those guidelines.

How can he go from an RFA to a UFA the following year by sitting another season out? That seems kind of strange to me.

Longterm Nashville Predators success is the last thing on this guys mind. He’s setting himself up for the best contracts available and thats it. He has never properlly commited to a contract he has signed, obviouslly in both countries or the KHL would have never released this statement. I still find it stupid that he loses his last year of rookie eligibilty without even attending training camp. Thank god he is our last example of this BS.
