That’s brutal, especially that late in the game. Refs should put away their whistles at this point unless someone gets two-handed in the face.

I agree with you, but I have to say that after the lockout they were calling hooking way too much. I’m glad players can skate freely now, but I can’t believe they call hooking for a stick just touching the player’s glove. Some of the hooking calls are just ridiculous.

Here’s a blatant example that will anger a few Wings fans.

I started watching hockey 24 years ago. The officiating was bad then… and that’s the only way that it has been consistent over the years. There was a brief period of time when the hooking and obstruction was being called after the lockout, but I think everyone agrees that we’re heading right back to where we started… and that’s bad for the game.

I have to agree with Ryan. The officiating pretty much across the board this year has been absolutely horrible when it comes to consistency. It’s like each of the officials learned the rules from a different book… Then you add in the flip-a-coin approach to supplemental discipline coming out of Shanahan’s office and you just have to shake your head. Get it together guys, this is embarrassing.

Agreed, fans saying this stuff after awhile just gets lost… players and management sometimes just need to take the fine (if levied), say it, and hope the league starts looking at the refs a little harder.

And this year the players do have a gripe

He is right, with all these refs that dont care to learn the rules fully. It has been far to inconsistent.

Leave that stuff the fans.

I'm not a Ducks fan, but sometimes in sports, there actually are inconsistencies and bad calls that need to be called out by people involved. Especially if it actually is a trend, as Ryan points out, and not just sour grapes. Granted, it's card that needs to be played very, very sparingly.
