Video: Alex Ovechkin’s 30th goal is a beauty

Mar 18, 2012, 9:14 PM EDT

This season is a new low for Alex Ovechkin, but of course it’s all relative. He’s not putting up superstar numbers anymore and this will be his worst season to date in terms of points. Still, he did reach the 30-goal mark on Sunday for the seventh straight season and he did it in quite an impressive fashion:

Unfortunately for Washington, Ovechkin’s efforts proved to be too little, too late. The Capitals were unable to build off that goal, which resulted in Chicago picking up a 5-2 victory.

At this point in the season, why are we only talking about Ovi’s 30th goal? His goal total should be at least at 40 at this point in the season. Don’t get mad Caps fans. Just saying.

Why are we talking about this? Because it’s a superstar goal by a superstar player displaying his now increasingly rare superstar talent. News worthy.

    Looks like classic Ovie.

Goal was a Beauty… Game was a SUCKFEST

Ill take it over hearing about Crosby just being IN a game, not scoring or assisting or anything. Plus, I think anyone who enjoys hockey likes and would like to see Ovechkin find his groove again.

    BREAK OUT THE BUBBLY !

So let’s see then … $10,000,000 divided by 30 goals equals about $330,000 per goal … yeah man, talk about a bargain, eh ?

I didn’t think the game was a suckfest. It was more like the song, ”Slip Sliding Away.” By that I mean the Caps playoff hopes.

    Thank you Simon and Garfunkle.

    GO JETS GO!!!

Friend … the Washington Capitals are a proud organization, however they need to fleece themselves of this fake $100,000,000.00 leech “asap” !

caps suck, its been tormenting watching this team all year…but the jets are average at best too, you’ll make the playoffs…but your pitiful on the road and you’ll be bounced first round…the caps won’t even be there…oh well, always next year…

  8. pfpmb - Mar 18, 2012 at 11:54 PM

Yes, the Jets are average at best and playing a little over their heads for the last 1/2 of the season. I was not expecting a playof berth from them in year one. This is a big audition for a bunch of players in the organization. Management and the coaching staff are both new to what’s in the cupboard. The foundation is being laid and it’s looking like they’re moving in the right direction.

The Caps have to do something drastic this offseason because the same old, same old isn’t really working so well.
