Hey I’m not saying he’s above criticism at all, and I totally I hear ya on his weaknesses. I’m just saying you’d have to agree that he’s analyzed and held to a standard that at times borders on the absurd.

You’re dead wrong buddy ! We’ve had wonderful goal-tending heroes here in Vancouver over the years, including but not limited to Charlie Hodge, Smitty, King Richard and Captain Kirk. However, the difference with these “fine” gentlemen and this “junk” who you support, is that these decent men never mouthed off about how all they want to do is win a Stanley Cup, regardless of the team they’re playing on ! Luongo is a B-grade, self-serving, narcissistic leech, which is precisely the reason that he will be invited to a “Spaghetti” dinner this summer …

The problem is the team’s inability to spread the load between the two. Now I may eat my words with Schneider starting tomorrow, but how many times have we seen a shaky Luongo inappropriately get the nod/kept on ice? Yes, fans are going to pissed off when your star goalie is also a roller coaster. All the fans want is consistency, and this team has ample tools to make that happen but instead it waits until Luongo digs himself into a hole all over again and the pundits get all worked up.

And I agree with taytay, Luongo has this awful quality where he visibly doesn’t fight when he’s in his off games… he’ll lie on the ice and watch the puck go in. Fans notice things like that.

There will never be a goaltender in this city that will satisfy the fans, ever. Schneider is a great backup and has the potentional to be an absolute stud goaltender in this league (and I truly do believe he will be) but up to this point he is still an unproven commodity. He has great games, he has mediocre games. He makes great saves, and lets in bad goals. I would bet every dime I have ever made in my life that if somehow Schneider did end up in this city … the fans would turn on him in about 2-3 years.

Kirk Mclean is still considered almost god-like by many in this city (don’t get me wrong … I agree with that part) and his historic run to the Cup Finals is immortalized. Loungo’s career numbers absolutley destroy Kirks, and ya his historic run to the Cup Finals is also immortalized … but only as a loss.

Lou will never satisfy a certain demographic of this city. Even if he won game 7 they’d still say the team beat 3 out of 4 opponents and got two shutouts in the Final despite him. The ignorance of some fans in this city is nothing short of embarrassing.

Lou is a great goaltender, he’s played lights out for the most part of this year, his contract and cap hit are well within the market value, and whether you like it or not ..he’s here to stay.

“NOW JUST TAKE A DEEP BREATH, ALL YOU LUONGO LOVERS” …

This is not the time to panic, as that’s going to come this summer, when Aqulini Investments finally pulls the plug on this over-rated “human sieve” and invites the clown to a “spaghetti dinner”. Make no mistake about it people … no Stanley Cup this year for the Canucks, then no Bobby Loo … it’s as simple as that. And save your gibberish about NTC’s and 100 year contracts, etc … this crap can be changed with the stroke of a pen ! I don’t like the Canucks one bit, but I do have great respect for the Sedin brothers and “that” which they represent. They deserve so much more, which is in essence an “unbridled and unfettered” Cory Schneider !

It’s not just the numbers, though. Most Canucks fans just seem to like Schneider more. He seems a lot more calm and in control than Lu. I like both goalies, but it sure seems like Luongo just gives up and half the goals he lets in are just weak. It gets quite frustrating seeing Lu lying on his stomach in defeat before the puck has crossed the line. I don’t find myself yelling “GET UP” at the TV when Schneider’s in net.

Luongo also plays a lot better after sitting on the bench for a few games. Seems to get him out of his funk.

You cannot compare back up number to starting numbers. It’s much harder to maintain good numbers when you start twice as many games. Drama starting post…weak

Schneider needs at least two consecutive starts. Luongo simply looks shaken lately, and considering how the defence is playing lately a boost is needed in the back end. While Luo fought out of his funk at the start of the year, his play of late is just showing how cyclic he is. There was a lot of talk about Vancouver utilizing both goalies, but that really hasn’t happened. Time to see some changes, getting tired of AV going by the party line and waiting for things to work themselves out. Burrows on the third looked good, let’s see a scratched Raymond, Schneider in net and maybe Kassian give a spin with the Sedins to give this team a kick start.

The goalie who is playing better should be playing. Luongo had an amazing stretch in January and February and he deserved to play then. Schneider has been playing better of late and deserves to play more now.
