“Touching the puck first” is not the rule, its a guideline. It does not prohibit ref from calling tripping. It was close play, but I thought the Englland elbow more egregious and obviously missed. It will be an interesting couple of weeks and the final week of play for both teams are against the toughest competition. May the best team win!!

Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang are the same people pretty much. Letang slowly learned how to play D just like EK will.

You cannot, with a straight face, believe that Letang is currently better than Lidstrom or Chara. I think Weber is comparable because I’m not sure if the system is what makes him look better defensively or if it’s his ability. Rookies step in there and put up a good plus/minus. Lidstrom is the smartest player on the ice (he makes the least amount of needed effort to get the job done because he’s rarely if ever out of position…) and Chara is just a physical marvel whose reach and shot are great. His ability to turn/agility for his size is impressive. Those two guys are 1a and 1b, not sure who goes where (I give the edge to Lidstrom because his age says he should be just average at best, yet is still in the top 3 conversation..)

Letang is becoming easier to consider elite, however.

niskanen got puck first therefore by rule its not a trip. Can’t blame a 3 goal loss on one play and a absentee line up. Pens know everything about injuries. That England hit should of been a penalty but against our pk I don’t know if it would of mattered.good game. Looking forward to more.

Again, what about the games in February and January? The Pens beat the Rangers 2-0 and 4-1 without Crosby, and against fully healthy Rangers teams with Lundqvist in net. The Rangers beat the Pens 4-3 with Crosby on November 29, but that was a loooong time ago. The Rangers aren’t playing as well as they did early in the year because they are gassed from a lack of depth.

crosby looked pretty good. you guys must be blind. pittsburgh is better with him and letang back is huge. hes top 3 if you ask me. and the flyers definitely do not have a goalie problem if you havent seen their last 6 games. they will be a team to get past come playoffs

here are some other topics: Rangers are without the reason they’re up top at first in the standings (Lundqvist). Not really complaining about the players but I mean no mention of arguably the best goalie in the league not playing is a topic. Fleury played really well for the pens but honestly no one should read too much into this game. I’m curious to see the teams play when fully healthy on both sides (Been quite a long time it feels like). Defiantly a great matchup though and there is one more game to go so series can end up tied.

Two other things one is the call Gaborik did not get when he broke by and was taken down with a “trip.” How was this not called I mean was he supposed to be leaping over the guy and it wasn’t just his stick, Gaborik ran into the guys glove and fell. Was just curious about this because I watched this game with a few people and no one could figure out why it wasn’t.

Also Engllend’s elbow or forearm shiver to Fedotenko non call.

We got beat by the better team tonight. It was a concern all season when our Rangers weren’t scoring, but we could always depend on team defense to keep it close. The last two weeks, team defense is no where to be seen. The good news is, they have the ability and have to find it again before the playoffs.

Yeah, because beating a fully healthy Rangers 2-0 without Crosby meant absolutely nothing… Neither did the 4-1 win in January. The Pens have played the Rangers very well all season. The depth is simply too much for the Rangers to handle. Take off the homer glasses.

First off, the Pens are better then the rangers with or without 87. Should 87 be on the the first line? No, why fix what isn’t broken. Is Letang a top 5 when healthy? No, he’s the best period…when healthy. Are the pens the team to beat now with 87 back? No, the ranger are since they are still in first. Having all the pieces of the puzzle back to this team is so important but only if they can all play together, something they haven’t done all year.
