I understand completely why the red line was removed for two line passes, to enhance offensive hockey. Not to redeuce whistles. And only Americans want to be Americans.

Hey Montreal jackhole do YOUR research. The reason why the red line was turned down by majority was because of the fear the whistles would slow the game down. I wasn’t talking about WHY it was proposed to be PUT in you retard. Learn to read. Typical Canadian thinking he knows it all. You don’t…..therefore you’ll never be an American.

Removing the red line had nothing to do with a reduction of whistles, it was to open up the game for more scoring.

Maybe you should concentrate on beach volleyball and leave hockey to the grown ups.

Such a stupid rule. Let’s not put in the red line but create hybrid icing. Wasn’t the object of not putting the red line in to not have as many whistles? This hybrid icing will produce the same results. With the way these GM’s think, this game will never progress. So far since the lockout it’s become a soft sissy sport ie less fights, more visors, Leave the damn game alone and worry about the passionate fan for once not the casual reject.

Just switch to automatic icing already! There’s maybe a 1 in 20 times that an offensive player beats the defensive player back there and if it’s closely generally the linesman will side with the D anyway, is it really worth the risk to player safety for that?
