I am a diehard Isles fan, but I have to admit that they are not an excellent home ice team...and yet they destroyed DET at the Coliseum 5-1. In fact, they are the only team that has not lost to DET in regulation since the lockout. Record is 5-0-1. Go figure!

The hit on Yakupov is way overrated. The only reason it was a headshot at all was because he ducked his head down at the last moment when it was too late for Halmo to avoid him. I am in favor of all headshots being banned in NA hockey as they are in intl play, but, under existing rules, this was a completely legit hit.

Maybe the Red Wings have lost 5 of their last 6 on the road because Datsyuk, Howard, Lidstrom, Bertuzzi are all out. This "rest" may help them come playoff time.
