Video: Fans help singer who forgets French section of O Canada

Mar 10, 2012, 8:42 PM EDT

Years of rehearsing the national anthem in school, not to mention at every major sporting event, paid off Saturday night for Senators fans at Scotiabank Place. With their team hosting the Buffalo Sabres, Tara Holloway had a brief mental lapse while reciting the French portion of O Canada. No problem, she had thousands of backup singers ready to pick up the slack.

We have to give Holloway credit for laughing off what had to be an embarrassing moment and continuing the anthem.

Nous devrions tous parler le français !

Notwithstanding the fact that “indigenous” folk were here long before, the fact remains that the first European peoples to settle in the “Canada’s” were indeed the French … and though my own bloodlines have been antagonists with them for centuries (ie: German and English) I personally have great respect for the French language and culture in this land … let us never forget friends, that the only reason we’re even conversing here today in English, is due entirely to the “winner take all” events at Quebec City back in 1759 (ie: Plains of Abraham) …
