when i speak of the two i mean all around players, I don’t buy the offensive defense-man. If you can’t protect your own end what could are you? But yea certainly I think meyers ceiling is higher than charas ever was. And i don’t disagree with you meyers very well be better then chara was at that age(didn’t folloow him much then. when meyrs plays confident he can move the puck has a rocker(not chara). He needs huge improvements in his defensive game. which you know should be his main focus.

Do you mean “little skill” as in defensively? He does provide offensive threat (when hes consistent..which is never). But if you compare Myers at year 3 and Chara at year 3, I think Myers is light years ahead of him. Im not comparing the two now Im actually agreeing with you for once.

Really? Did you watch the game? Turnovers have been killing us lately. Its their own fault, not bounces. The Sabres have been two faced when it comes to playing the Bruins. Game1-Miller gets hit, we do nothing, Bs win. Game 2-A few fights but nothing happens cuz papa Shanahan had his eye on the game. Bs win in shootout. Game 3 sabres get very physical a lot of fights and a blowout victory over the bruins. Game 4- nothing happens, sabres win in shootout, Game 5 last night was kind of like game 4 but more big hits. You cant win hockey games when your skating backwards all the time. And I like how everyone who has commented on your post each has ONE thumbs down. I wonder who could be hating on those comments? Thumbs up to everyone else.

its a good thing they dont have to play the Bruins from the 70′s. Who cares if that team was tougher, you don’t have to beat a team from 40 years ago, you have to beat the teams now.

I get it your from buffalo, moral victories are needed for you guys. I really thought you guys were gonna have a good hockey club, I also thought the bills had a shot at the playoffs with there hot start. I was wrong, some things just don’t change. you had 20 shots on goal last night. That is not a good game. I will say I think they have a ton of talent but just don’t see it this year.

Before all you Bruin fans start firing off inane comments, the Sabres aren’t going anywhere this year whether they make the playoffs or not. Vanek shoiuld have had his head up. That said, Boychuk left his feet and hit him flush with both arms. That’s the NHL today. Nobody knows how to bodycheck anymore. As far as being tough, the Bruins of the 70′s would knock this years team into next week. Johnny Boychuk ain’t no Johnny Bucyk. Don Awrey, Wayne Cashman. Those guys were tough.

Myers was a non factor until the Marchand hit. Vanek was the one who got blown up. Buffalo doesn’t back down? You might wanna ask Ryan Miller about that.

Myers is all size and little skill. He’s Hal Gill–good at covering an area but nothing else. He gets knocked around far too much for somebody who’s 6′ 8″, and he’s not good at hitting.

Also, the Bruins spent most of the game in the Sabres’ end. That speaks to skill, not “bounces”.

lets also point out that he claimed they can score with Boston who has about 60 more goals on the season than Buffalo. And more than Pitts, and 1 less than Philly whom with Buffalo cannot score, according to him

I would like nothing more than to see Buffalo make the playoffs and end up facing the Bruins in the first round. It would be a nice way for the Bruins to build some confidence, experiment with the lines and get some rest before the next round.

I don’t think after a one goal performance you can say that your offense was flying on all cylinders. and since when is kicking a puck to the opposing team not a turnover? its may not be your classic “takeaway” but it was a “giveaway” which is still a turnover.

I didn’t see vanek anywhere till he was laying on the ice either…

To say Enroth bailed out the Sabres is pretty laughable if you ask me, considering the same could be said for Thomas. That Campbell goal wasn’t a turnover, that was a puck that “bounced” off a skate right to a stick. Also, I am happy with the way they played, the defense wasn’t as tight as usual, but at least all 12 forwards showed up. Was it a game we needed? Yes. Were we expected to win? Probably not. So why not come out of it with some good news that we have 4 lines that are now firing on all cylindars and beat the teams were supposed to beat! As a fan, the game sucked, however for the overall “health” of the team, I think it was a step forward. 4 points back with teams with schedules from Hell ahead of us isn’t all that bad right now. Buffalo will be in 8th place this time next week, and will be shooting for Ottawa in 7th.

well- if you look at the stats- the Bruins had 30 hits and the Sabres 23. so um…. and Myers had 3 hits – which was 3rd on the Sabres (tied) and tied for 6th in hits (both teams) with 6 others guys (3 hits) but yeah don’t let facts get in your way. He did lay a decent hit on someone an entire foot shorter than him (marchand) but he came back next shift- where’d Vanek go?

FYI – Myers is terrible – notice he is your only d-man who didn’t block a shot. Coincidentally he was dead LAST in even strength Ice time. I guess Ruff agrees.

did you watch the game? your happy with there play? i’m confused. I thought thats the worst the sabres have looked in a few weeks. they were more physical than boston yes, but they did not play a good overall game. The sabres can’t have moral victories right now.

Uhh…Tyler Myers didn’t do much “blowing up” last night, aside from blowing Marchand’s head into the dasher (which was pretty much Marchand’s fault for trying to avoid the hit).

And the Sabres were outhit, 30-23. And to say Buffalo doesn’t back down is pretty laughable, considering it took the team a couple of weeks to stand up to Lucic.

If your Sabres get in, anything can happen, because you’ve got a good goalie.

the story of the game wasn’t lucky bounces, it was bad turnovers. Sabres made huge mistakes and Boston capitalized. Thats not bad luck for Buffalo, or skill on Boston, thats bad play.

Its bad luck if it happens once in a while, if it happens regularly like it has all season, its just bad play.
