Crosby unsure about playing Sunday: “I probably haven’t been as tested as much as I would like”

We still don’t know if Sidney Crosby is going to play Sunday when the Penguins face the Bruins (12:30 p.m. ET, NBC.)

But we do know when we’ll find out.

Crosby told reporters he’ll make a decision on Saturday about his availability for Sunday’s affair. While No. 87 indicated he might not have absorbed enough contact yet to resume playing, he didn’t rule out the possibility of coming back for the nationally-televised affair.

Crosby also stated he was pleased with his response to this week’s on-ice workouts.

“It went pretty good, but we haven’t practiced a lot,” Crosby told NHL.com. “A couple of morning skates and [working] with two guys yesterday…I probably haven’t been as tested as much as I would like.”

On Thursday, Crosby continued to work while some of his Penguins teammates enjoyed the day off. He skated with forwards Dustin Jeffrey and Eric Tangradi who, according to reports, “shoved [Crosby] during faceoff drills and puck-possession drills in the corners.”

If Crosby doesn’t play on Sunday, it’ll be interesting to see when he does return. The Penguins head out on a three-game roadie following the Boston game — in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia — before returning home on Tuesday, Mar. 20 for a game against Winnipeg.

Dude, me and some of the other guys in the room are getting kinda uncomfortable with you fantasizing about our man parts. We’ve got no problem with your lifestyle but try to tone it down a bit, alright?

    Terminalcity,

I’ll let jamesmakesyournomneal fill ya in on that one.

I can see them purposely avoiding Boston to avoid him getting banged up in the game. New York or Jersey would be nice softer games for him to come into. They aren’t really as hard nosed as Boston. (No, I’m not a Bruin fan, they are just a big, hard hitting team)

    • itsallniceonice - Mar 9, 2012 at 3:03 PM

      I wouldn’t really peg NYR as a softer team…

  5. chiadam - Mar 9, 2012 at 1:34 PM

Do you blame him for being cautious? It’s not his ankle or elbow. It’s his brain. And he can sit out the rest of the season (not saying he is going to), roll out of bed in 2013, and still be the best hockey player in the world.

How about just reporting something when he makea a decision? It’s almost as bad as the brett favre coverage.

    A few more weeks.

    He’s getting close

    He’s almost there.

    He’ll be back on Sunday.

He’s not sure if he’ll be back on Sunday.

    WTF??? Really??

  10. Buffalo Grumblings - Mar 9, 2012 at 2:33 PM

All the talk out of Pittsburg is he will be back. I think it’s all PR being spun by the league and the Penguins. They want him back. I think he is done. The game will go on without him. Gordie and Wayne are both gone but the game goes on.

  11. buffalomafia - Mar 9, 2012 at 4:03 PM

Whats the matter Penguin fans? Cynthia Crosby is the poster boy for Puffs Tissues cause everytime he gets checked he cries to the refs!

Wide right, no goal! We have 5 lax championships biaaaaaaaatch!
