Blind eye? Do you even read other peoples posts or do you just like repeating yourself? I said it was the City’s fault, they had a report sitting available for the past 15 years and this current administration chose to not even read it. Whether it was arrogance or an attempt to sway public opinion on their side with the election coming up within half a year, they ignored almost every suggestion and recommendation given to them and that puts the blame almost exclusively on the Mayors office.

My issue with your post was you falsely stating that there was 3 riots and that there wasnt any study or report on how to deal with the possibility of things going awry again. That part of your post … was completely inaccurate.

Please dont turn a blind eye to the simple fact that Vancouver proved itself to be vast unprepared and that it took this long for guidelines to show up… Also lets add that I feel there are other cities and college programs that seemed to be woefully unprepared as well…

The 2010 “riot” vfs13 is referencing was the brief scrum at the start of the Olympics were the protesters smashed some windows of the Bay…

The Mayor (and many other Vancouverites) was wrongly convinced that the people would be well-behaved after all the large scale celebrations that had happened on Granville St during the Olympics and after several key victories in the 2011 playoff run.

My disappointment lies not in the government & police response, but rather the inaction fellow fans to self-police the rioters as it all started.

This is still a good hockey team that is playoff bound and has a shot at the President’s Trophy (again). They could win the West, if Detroit stumbles. I don’t care to speculate beyond that.

Chicago lost 8 of 11 in March before winning the cup. The Pens lost 7 of 11 in February, then won the cup. The Red Wings lost 10 of 11 in February and then won the cup. The Ducks lost 17 of 25 following the all-star break before they won the cup.

But yeah, you guys go ahead and keep flailing about how the Canucks are totally gonna get knocked out in the first round.

While I’ll agree the Provincial and City Government is to blame here I’m a lil confused ….1994, 2010, and 2011? Three riots?

As a lifelong resident I know there’s a ton of morons in this city, but while the blame lies almost primarily in the Mayors office but the lesson they should learned was next time the Police hand you a report from 17 years agop detailing what you should do to prevent a riot …you should read it.

For the record my memory sits at 2 riots 17 years apart, am I off here?

Wow only took them 9 months to come up with a plan… oh wait they already had this happen in 94 and 2010… so lets recalculate it took 3 damaging riots over the course of 17 years for Vancouver to figure out hey maybe we need to do something about these riots… WHAT A JOKE!
