Nash is exactly the guy you’d want to make a big trade for. Does anyone consider the integrity and class he showed despite not getting what he asked for (to help the team out, I might add) and then getting thrown under the bus by Howson after he didn’t get traded. He didn’t make snide remarks, he didn’t trash the players or the management, and he continued to applaud the team and its fans. So who wouldn’t want that kind of personality and leadership in the locker room on top of all the obvious talent he has? We haven’t seen what the guy is really capable of because he’s never had a bonafide center to play with. I think most teams passed up an opportunity to have one of the most outstanding players on and off the ice at the deadline.

Time for Nash to threaten throwing the team, gm and city under the bus and see if they wanna trade him then.

Nash gave them a chance, they blew it for Nash and the fans.

My guess is their best offer will be something a little better than the Rangers’ one. A better NHL player than Dubinksy, a couple of prospects, and two or three picks. I can’t see a team offering up anything more than that. If CBJ wants to rebuild they would be wise to take a couple of picks and prospects. If they hold out for more than that they’ll get nothing.

He is a top notch player, but it seems they are trying to get six top notch players back. Don’t get me wrong he should get a good return but he’s put up pretty similar numbers to Carter & Kessel. Kessel got two firsts and a 2nd (which the Bruins did very well with) but they are asking for way, way too much. NOBODY will give you frontlilne player (I assume top 3 forward or top 2 D is what you are talking about) one or two prospects that should slot top 6/4d, two more firsts and a second. NO WAY. Plus – you need the 7+ mill cap it on a shrinking cap? NO- I love Nash as a player, but, no. you are telling me if the Bruins wanted to go get Nash it would cost; Krejci, Hamilton, a first in 13 and 14 and a second. No. Gretzky didn’t get that much and teams didn’t need to worry about the cap. Assuming you hit on one of the 1st’s you end up with a top line player a top 2 dman, another top 6 forward and and top 9 forward all, Geesh. no thanks.

He knew who he was signing with when he signed that 8 year extension in 2009. He is under contract with CBJ until 2018. If he really wants to move, he can open up the list of possible trading partners to include teams more likely to be able to offer CBJ what it needs. Otherwise, is it really in his interest to stink up the joint or hold out when CBJ is under no obligation to trade him? I wouldn’t think so.

Nash will not sit idly by waiting for another rebuild. he is being nice and doing the pr thing now because he doesn’t want to rock the boat anymore than he has. Present him with the option of another rebuild and he is going to go off worse than jeff carter did. the guy has no reason to believe those morons in the front office will ever get it right because they haven’t the entire time he has been there. they got nash, but even a blind dog finds a bone once in a while.

If the Rangers’ offer is what’s going to be out there, CBJ should absolutely walk away. To me, the Ranger offer was a bunch of spare parts. Some of them might become decent role players, but none of them compare, for example, with Luca Sbisa–the prime prospect in the Pronger trade. To be honest, the Rangers don’t really have the assets to adequately compensate CBJ which is why I never thought they were a serious contender. CBJ needs to do due diligence and explore all offers and, if nothing better is offered, walk away and tell Nash that they tried.

Well they made this mess haha. It’s obvious that Nash wants to go. With the CBA talks coming up this summer, teams will be hesistant to just give up more than the Rangers’ proposed trade. If they want the world, that’s their God given right. Doesn’t mean anyone will give them exactly that.

And if other teams are hoping to get Nash for a few 2nd rate prospects and players, they are in for a surprise.

Patrick is taking the right approach. The Jackets have to be willing to walk away from negotiations if they dont get what they want and simply rebuild around Nash, Yakupov, Johanssen, Moore, nikitin, and others.

What should CBJ be looking for? Something on the order of the Pronger deal+. A frontline player, 1-2 bluechip prospects, two first rounders, and a second rounder. Anything less and CBJ should walk away. They have Nash under contract for a bunch of years. They do not have to trade him at all.

If they (CBJ mgmt) is expecting teams to give up their whole farm system for Nash, they are in for a rude awakening. CBJ is trying to make up for years of bad drafting in one mega trade. That’s not going to happen.
