He should get a suspension because of the circumstances of the hit. He led into the hit with his elbow out and made initial contact with the head. There was no reason to even go in there and his Connolly, he should have played the puck because Orlov already did his job to take away Connolly’s chance. Very “Bash Brothers” kind of hit.

the fact that connolly was already engaged with another player, Green leads with the forearm, and makes contact with the head – i dont see how you cant suspend him for this. the fact that he was engaged already was the biggest thing that damns green for this hit. you cant blame connolly for being in a “compromised position” because he didnt put himself there, he was already being hit by orlov. it was totally unnecessary and not really Mike Green-like type of play. i believe he made a mistake and he doesnt have a bad disciplinary record so i would be fine with 1-2 games, nothing more.

Green was suspended 3 games for an elbow back in the 09-10 season. On that hit, he stuck his elbow out and practically led with it. On last night’s hit, he’s leading with mostly shoulder and you can’t tell if his elbow makes any contact.

If that’s the best replay/angle they’ve got then it’s hard to justify a suspension. Green doesn’t leave his feet, and properly leads with his shoulder. He’s going in for a body check but the Lightning player ends up being lower than Green anticipated.

After the non-suspension on Kronwall, I cannot see how you can suspend this….but I’ve been wrong before too.

I’d usually agree, but I think the fact that Connolly was already pinned to the boards by Green’s teammate when he threw this hit makes it that much worse. It was completely unnecessary.

That’s bad. Connolly’s already engaged in a check and has no real way to defend himself. Then Green comes in with an elbow right to the face. Should be at least 4 or 5 games. Has Green been suspended before?

Tough to say, few points to look at. Green leads with a slight elbow, but Connolly was in a compromised position due to a hit that happens no less then a second before the hit, and he returned to the game healthy and fully capable of play.

Don’t know how that is not a suspension….but I’ve said that before and been wrong….spin the wheel Shanny, where does it land? 1 game, 3 games, 5 games, or nothing at all, I for one have no f’n clue.
