As a hockey fan I’m worried for Sid the Kid. I know he’s the face of the NHL right now, but these concussion symptoms have been lingering for over 2 years. I worry that he is one elbow or boarding penalty from being done for good. Remember Pat LaFontainne and Eric Lindross? And I agree with others, McGuire just needs to shut up during games, he is a wealth of useless facts during a hockey broadcast!

Almost caved. I typed out a reply extolling the virtues of Sid …but then realized it was just feeding the ignorants so I deleted it. (whew!)

But … I do love Pierre. Ya he’s super weird and way over chatty, but he’s also one of the most energetic and hooked in analysts you’re gonna find in the game right now.

I think I have my facts wrong.

Crosby was #4 on that list in 2011.

In 2012 I believe he was actually #1.

The Hockey News recently released it’s annual top 100 People of Power and Influence for 2012.

Coming in at #4, Crosby was the highest ranked player and sat only behind Donald Fehr, Gary Bettman, and Bill Daly.

So he sits only behind the two guys who run the league, and the head of the NHLPA.

Is that your definition of “Irrelevant”?

12 points in his last 10 games during his first comeback. Your right would want to hype the second comeback. If he was totally irrelevant then there wouldnt be so many posts about him.

Crosby has spent more time sitting in chairs conducting interviews and press conferences than skating on the ice playing the game in the past year. I don;t want to hear anymore from him or about him on a national stage until he comes back and plays more than 3 games without squashing his melon again.

He’s a great player who has become totally irrelevant because of major concussion problems.

Hahaha oh man I was saying the exact same thing last night… I was watching the game and he was talking about how Chris Kunitz’s brother went to Oklahoma State to play soccer, and then stayed down there to marry his college sweetheart and now runs a soccer camp in Dallas. I mean since Pierre was in Dallas with Pittsburgh a week or so ago, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that it would come up in a conversation, but what about Kunitz’s dump-in made you feel it necessary to bring up that little nugget?

Its funny because the people who complain and say crosby whines spend just about as much time on a post whining about his supposed whining. Give me one example from that video where he was whining? Also try not to whine so much in your next post.

I had to change the channel last night. Two of the most annoying people in sports on the television at the same time.

As a hockey fan, I really want Sidney Crosby to come back because the league is better when his talent is amongst it. I just don’t want to hear him whine. I feel bad he’s having concussion issues, but I would not want that guy on my team. He’s just such a whinny little b…well you know what I mean.

Pierre, for as much knowledge as he has is simply one of the most annoying commentators ever. He constantly lobs softball questions, marks out to people and fixates on the obvious over-and-over.

Actually, while Pierre can be rather annoying during play when he can’t refrain from tapping into his prodigious knowledge of the game, always at a shout, seemingly unaware how well these newfangled microphones work (“that was just an unacceptable lapse for that 22-year-old native of Poison Oak, Minnesota, whose grandfather used to go fishing in the offseason with the great Gordie Howe whose record 801 goals was broken by Wayne Gretzky whose father was a telephone company employee who used to set up a backyard rink every winter in Brantford, Ontario…”)… BUT he really is one of the better interviewers in the hockey TV biz. Seriously.
