Jeff Carter gets his first two Kings’ goals

Mar 4, 2012, 1:39 AM EDT

Jeff Carter didn’t exactly hit the ground running with the Los Angeles Kings, but he and Mike Richards gelled on Saturday. Carter scored twice against Anaheim, and Richards assisted on both goals, in Los Angeles’ 4-2 victory.

Richards added a third assist on Anze Kopitar’s empty net goal with 15 seconds remaining in regulation time. Dustin Brown also scored to extend his point streak to four games.

Anaheim got their two goals from unusual sources: Sheldon Brookbank and Devante Smith-Pelly. Meanwhile, the team’s leading goal scorer, Corey Perry, was limited to just one shot on goal.

Aside from the Ducks and Kings being natural rivals, this game had huge consequences for both clubs. For Anaheim, it made their chances of securing a playoffs seem all the more remote. On the flipside, the Kings managed to prevent the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars from building too big of a cushion between Los Angeles and the seventh and eighth seeds. These two points are big for the Kings as they get ready for a tough four-game road trip against Nashville, Columbus, Detroit, and Chicago.

    Hey Canuckle Nation !

As a King’s fan, I’m precluded by our manifesto from being cruel or unkind towards others … so in light of tonight’s developments, allow me to therefore offer you the following “excellent” number by the Beatles, which may hopefully assist in assuaging your pain … this is actually one of my personal favorites … :)

      • creasemasta41 - Mar 4, 2012 at 3:00 PM

Grow up and quit posting stupid videos. Im a kings fan, and if you truly are a kings fan then you are an embarrassment to kings fans and need to quit associating yourself with us. Grow up and stop trolling. I hate the canucks as much as the next guy but come on dude, show a little class

      • blomfeld - Mar 4, 2012 at 9:14 PM

Listen creasemasta41 … here where I live, Saturday night is known as “music night” and I’ll have you know that I go to great lengths to obtain and present these high quality videos for you people … therefore, I sure as hell won’t be letting some boring sap denounce my choice of music or call me an idiot ! … ya dig ?

You call yourself a Kings fan ? … well “good on you” if that’s the case … but you should also know that we Kings fans don’t stab our own in the back ! … therefore you will be spared this time … but “this” time only buddy !

Fact: in October of 1974, a 15 year old Blomfeld, together with his friends, went to the Pacific Coliseum here in Vancouver to take in a Kings vs Canucks game … despite the intimidation and frowns of the locals, they hung no less than 20 “plus” pro-Kings banners throughout the Coliseum, which included:

        - Clear the Track, here comes Kozak !

        - LA has the Fastest Car ! (ie: Gene Carr)

        - Bob Berry, King of Kings !

the game ended in a 2-2 tie and the voice of the LA Kings “Bob Miller” even said on the Kings broadcast that something “strange and wonderful” was going on for the Kings, during this particular road game ! … after the game, we cheered the entire team as they emerged from the dressing room and they were all delighted to no end …

so call me a troll, classless, childish, embarrassing, all you like … at the end of the day it doesn’t matter … I support and love the LA Kings the way I know best and “Quislings” like you will never deter me, ever ! … actually, I’ve got one here for you, which I think you might seriously like:

That’s all the Kings have are bandwagon fans. No point in jumping on.

  5. babar61 - Mar 4, 2012 at 9:42 AM

The big bad kings who have 1 playoff series win in 20 years. That got to be one of the worst droughts in professional sports, let alone in the NHL.

  7. blomfeld - Mar 4, 2012 at 12:51 PM

Wait till the gruesome threesome party animals Richards, Carter, and Doughty start their tirade acts of snorting coke and partying worse than Lindsay Lohan. Get back to us then you bandwagon Queen fans

    • blomfeld - Mar 4, 2012 at 2:21 PM

Hey listen there Tropical Fish fan … Sharks are supposed to be dangerous “lethal” predators … not a bunch of lazy, overpaid “harmless” fems like your team … “Shark Tank” my ass, it’s more like a Goldfish Bowl ! … the San Jose Queens ? … yeah, that actually has a bit of a ring to it, eh ?

  12. danphipps01 - Mar 5, 2012 at 1:47 AM

Man, every time I read your posts, blomfeld, I feel like I’m listening to an old-timey recruitment ad. Enlist today! Buy war bonds! Seriously, guy, how old are you? Your mannerisms are completely baffling. I don’t think anyone born post-1980 actually talks like that. Or, hell, probably longer. Which makes you… well, old enough that you ought to know better than expecting the Kings to get out of the first round.
