Actually, as a Bruins fan, I’m sad that the Habs suck, and probably will for some time. Let’s face it, fans on both sides eagerly awaited these two teams meeting up…always interesting hockey. Now, we sweat the Rangers.

And I agree with Groess. Next time you watch an original six team play in an opponent’s arena, look in the stands…there are probably as many people wearing THEIR jerseys as the home squad.

I disagree, the original 6 are VERY relevant to the NHL. If those 6 teams were out of the play-offs, you’d see quite a drop off in interest. I bet those 6 team’s fan bases are amongst the top ten of the fan bases in the league, along with the Flyers and the Canucks…and who knows whom else.

I wish the playoffs would start tomorrow so we don’t have to hear about them until training camp.

True in part, but many of the best rivalries involve Original Six teams. When one of them is playing badly the Habs/Leafs, Habs/Bruins, etc. games don’t have the same intensity or passion they usually do.

Here I am.

I’ve been a fan since 1967 when they lost to the Leafs in six (last time Toronto won the cup) during Expo. Have fun piling on, we deserve it. But the Bruins needed overtime wins in game 6 and 7 last year to eliminate us (without MaxPac). So we’re not as bad as you may think.

I’ll still be watching the PO’s.

To the fans of the other 24 teams, the original 6′s performance just isn’t that relevant any more. The game has become much bigger but the mindset of a few is still in the past.

And where is the habsman? Here is the thing, it’s not good for hockey when an original six team is floundering like this. The NHL is better when Toronto, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Montreal and Boston are all competitive. Let’s not lose sight of how we got here.

It is time for some serious change in the Canadiens organization.
