Randy Carlyle gives Toronto media a frosty introduction

Here’s the understatement of the night: the Toronto media is just a bit more in-depth than anything Randy Carlyle experienced in Anaheim (aside from the Stanley Cup finals). Carlyle didn’t exactly make a great first impression tonight, as he apparently brushed off three media members upon arriving in the hockey hotbed.

Click here for some bumpy video of the “exchange” via David Alter — one of the three spurned reporters.

David Feschuk and Mike Brophy were the other two guys who received the silent treatment, as Feschuk testified.

Some other tidbits of note:

Who cares? Screw the Toronto media…

Most media people are total vultures anyway. And that’s being nice.

This may go poorly… I don’t really see Randy Carlyle being too media friendly

If he wins he can treat the media however he wants, if he loses…watch out!

I’m 26, lived in Toronto my entire life and all I have to say is big deal. Some of the media here think they are some sort of royalty. They bash you all they want when you lose and if you win, guess what? They will write a story about how good the leafs are. It’s a joke. Especially the guy you got the tweet from. He’s a noob in this market compared to some of the other media guys. As a life long leaf fan (please pity me) I can tell you Dave feschuk is as respected as a hooker

They *gasp* criticize the team when they lose and compliment them when they win!? Inconceivable!!!

As funny as this is, guy’s got a point.

At least he already knows how to handle the media here.

So Montreal’s media demands the coach speaks french on arrival and Toronto’s media demands you kiss their feet on arrival. The Leafs just went through what might have been the most annoying span of media attention since Burke took over. Can you truly blame Randy for walking past Daves dumbass who is truly looking for a controversial soundbite to spin against Carlyle. The same way he uses twitter to make a limo out to be a bad thing.

    Three years??

  9. rainyday56 - Mar 3, 2012 at 12:38 PM

Ya, where would the team be if not for the Toronto media?
    A: Toronto.

Oh my goodness, columnists have opinions? And they share them? Leaf fans really are pansies.
