Who said he is getting the “C” because of his scoring?
He’s going to get it because he works harder than any other player on the Avs roster and leads by example. By doing the things that made him the 1st European captain for him junior team in the OHL

Well, let’s hold off on ‘captain’. Remember the article here showing why making your top scorer your captain isn’t always a great idea? Ovechkin, all of that?

I’ll agree with the rest of it, but I’m iffy on dropping a ‘C’ on someone that young until I see the kind of leadership that someone like Toews or Callaghan show.

Gabe will be Capitan of the Avs before the end of next season .

Could be the leading canidate? No no, he is the only candidate and has the award wrapped up and rightfully so since he is much better than one dimensional and fragile RNH.
