Both clubs had needs, both clubs adressed those needs. I like the deal. Tough to compare a winger to a defenseman but Neal is a top line winger,gologoski a top 2 puck moving defenseman. Niskanen is a bonus.

Anyone who thinks Dallas won that trade needs their head examined. Also, don’t forget that being surrounded by world class talent can help improve anyones numbers. The Franchise comes out on top again!!

minion, that trade is really not that one-sided. The Stars had, have and really have on the horizon a glut of talented young wingers. Goligoski is going to be a top 2 dman for Dallas for a really long time, and he’s been terrific. No complaints.

Neal deserves a nice reception. Good guy, really good player. Would love to still have him, but the best trades are usually quality for quality, and Goligoski was sorely needed in Dallas. I’d like to personally thank the Pens for trading Sergei Zubov for Kevin Hatcher back in the day. One of the best trades in Stars history.

I forgot about that trade… hindsight is 20/20, as they say, but that might be one of the more lopsided trades in the past decade, really. Not that Goligoski ended up being TERRIBLE, but… compared to what the Penguins got, that’s pretty ugly.
