I believe it means playing a physical style of hockey where you are willing to get in the shooting lanes and sacrifice your body for the betterment of the team. Look at the correlation with the Rangers and blocked shots – I think it reflects an entire attitude of their team, toughness, togetherness, selflessness. It also helped Boston win the Cup last year. So yes, it is a style.
