Sutter makes a good point. As a player how do you focus on tonight’s game when you might be dealt, especially if your name is plastered all over the hockey media outlets? Even if you’re not being traded, another guy on your team might be and there’s at least one name on each team that’s tossed about in trade rumors. I wonder how that all affects team chemistry, even if most of these rumors and speculations are just media bluster and ploys for click-counts (wink-wink).

Oh I fully agree- I just mean for this year. If the Kings played tomorrow instead of today, would Sutter have said a word about this? Or is it because he’s having to deal with it today that he’s speaking up?

I doubt he feels like his team is picked on. I’m sure if you look over the last decade of schedules, there’s been an even mix of who plays on the trade deadline. If I had a stat-boy on staff, I’d actually look into this, but for now I’ll just make the assumption.

I don’t entirely disagree with him, but I’m curious if he’d have said anything if the Kings played tomorrow instead- or if this is simply because he feels like his team is being picked on.
