Once again, I'm not saying the Flyers should do this deal. But the fact remains it's a FAIR deal. Bob is not viewed as a superstar in waiting, he's a decent goalie with decent upside. He's a fair return for the Islanders for dealing one of the better UFA-to-be goalies on the market.

Right now the Kings are mediocre at best. I'm sure your team could make a few improvements like getting a player better than Dustin Penner or an extra Dman now that Johnson is gone.

You will have to get more than another goalie that will leave your organization come July 1. If you trade Bob, you trade for defense or picks. The fact that the Flyers have Bryz for another 8 years means they will have to ride him for the short-term. Getting Nabby for a couple months makes no sense. You will still be stuck with Bryz after this season. You find a way to make it work. And that's exactly what the Flyers are doing.

"And the move would only work out (for the short-term) IF the Flyers win the Stanley Cup."

That's how most rentals work. Pay big for a small piece that hopefully makes your team that much better for your Cup run. Although I have to agree with you. I wouldn't trade a young backup goalie that could be worth a lot more in the future for a washed up backup goalie.

It's not my proposed trade, nor am I even saying I'd like the deal. But it's fair. The fact that Bob will be in the league for the next ten years means nothing, because with Bryzgalov on the books for nine years, there is no way Bob re-signs after next year. There will be a team after next year that signs Bob to an offer sheet of at least 2.5 mill, a number the Flyers would be foolish to match because they'd be committing over 8 million to the goalie position without having an elite guy.

So you give up a guy who can easily be in the league for another 10 years for a guy who may help you this year and that's it. And the move would only work out (for the short-term) IF the Flyers win the Stanley Cup. That's why your proposed trade doesn't seem reasonable.

Don't understand why that's considered a joke. Flyers get a veteran goalie with playoff experience in exchange for a guy that certainly won't be sticking around after next year in pursuit of a starting gig. Isles swap a guy that (as of right now) has no plans to play for them next year for a young, cheap goalie that has shown flashes of brilliance. Only kicker is if the Isles think they have a legit shot at the 8-seed.

Are you serious with this post? You're talking about team canada which plays with the best players in the world for several games in a certain window of time. Comparing that to 4 rounds each a 7 game series with a team that has been together for a whole year, some longer is hilarious. Esp. Since nash has only been in 1 series in which his team was swept. You obviously dont know a thing about chemistry. As a wings fan, i would tell all rangers fans that no trade is probably the best trade. At most maybe acquire some scoring depth pieces that wont cost you key pieces on your team and top future draft picks. This guy has no idea about anything. The regular season is almost over nash and his 40 goals mean nothing to the rangers. Its all about the playoffs.

Well, he'd be a wonderful fit. That's a no brainer. We don't need any more offence from our D. We're totally set there. We just need a solid, reliable, physical guy who can eat about 15 minutes a night, take a little pressure off our top guys, and in a pinch move up and play serviceable top 4 minutes. (Rome and Alberts have both failed to be this player). A guy like Allen is no superstar but he gives us exactly this.

That said, he's...less of a no brainer depending on the asking price. You look at what players are going for and you sure would hate to pay a fortune for a mere rental to round out your lineup. If he could be had for a non-1st round draft pick and a minor prospect I'd make that deal but I doubt this is the case.

"JUNK STORE" Sale !

No offense, but with the exception of Brown and Bernier, the above list of players essentially constitutes a "junk store" sale ! In fact, you can just open the phone book and randomly select 10 names and you'll probably get about the same in potential value ! Regardless, Brown and Bernier are going nowhere and I'm frankly disappointed that Yerdon would even include their names here, as I'm not sure what he's getting at ? We Kings now have everything we need in-order to cut down Detroit and Vancouver and so we have no interest in selling & buying. But even if we did, we sure as hell wouldn't be going to a "junk store" sale like this !

I'm thinking it's going to be a pretty quiet deadline. Most players who were going to move already have been moved.

-There's no reason to move Nash before the summer.

-NY doesn't seem to want to move Nabokov.

-The Brown thing is just hot air and always was.

-LA won't move Bernier until they've locked up Quick (otherwise he'd have been part of the Columbus deal).

-Dallas and Colorado aren't going to be sellers.

That said, I'd love to see Vancouver pick up Bryan Allen.

40 goal scorer potential soothes any chemistry concerns. Especially a squeaky clean Nash who is a focal point for Team Canada since he went pro.
Do people really forget that Nash is a Top 6 forward not in just the NHL but for Canada? Hockey people know what Nash has to offer, and it out-weights any chemistry concerns. Really who is to say chemistry is affected at all because of Nash?

The Rangers are taking a huge chemistry risk if they cave and do the Nash deal. They have a few needs and may be better off using the chips they have to make a couple of mid-level deals.
