Watch Alain Vigneault crack up laughing on the Canucks bench

Feb 26, 2012, 6:43 PM EDT

It’s not always stern serious business on the Vancouver Canucks bench.

While the Canucks lost an overtime heart breaker to the Dallas Stars, Alain Vigneault got busted on camera in a laughing fit that will even make the most sour puss person amongst us giggle along with him.

According to Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy, the reason for Vigneault (and Kevin Bieksa) to bust a gut laughing was thanks to Stars forward Vernon Fiddler. Murphy says that Fiddler does a killer impression of Bieksa’s “angry face” that he first broke out as a member of the Predators and busted out once again today much to the delight of the Canucks bench.

Fiddler got the last laugh, however, seeing the Stars score late in the third to tie the game and then go on to win in overtime to take down the Canucks and stay in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference.

I want to see this impression now.

i can’t wait to see the impression. that V laughed that hard at it is the equivalent of a SNL cast member laughing uncontrollably during a live skit. classic!

Murph said on his Twitter that he’s trying to find a link to put up …but that it’ll be on Sportsnet tonight anyways. (I love Vigneault)

He has other reasons to laugh. The Canucks sit atop the Western Conference, just beat Detroit and have the second best goal differential in the league. They are the favorites come out of that conference.

Because he has a sense of humour and you don’t?

Vigneault and this “giggling” thing has been going on for years here in Vancouver. On the surface, it appears to be harmless enough and it is rather amusing. Nonetheless, it does admittedly give one with an “astute” eye, every reason to pause and wonder … is this man okay ? Or in other words, is this giggling business just a “quaint and likeable” side to his character ? … or is this a warning sign that he knows “something” which the Canuck faithful don’t ? It’s tough to call and I personally suspect that there’s probably nothing to it. Then again, you never really know ?

Brilliant stuff, although it appears that your sarcasm was missed by a great many.

Comrade Noulp … thanks for your feedback, though I do suspect that is the case ? … at any rate, I’ve decided to issue the following fatwah upon your behalf:

“during his travels, may the excellent blogger known as “noulp” come to encounter armies of beautiful women and lakes of expensive wine … inshallah”

He also crushes karaoke in May-June. He has phenomal backup harmonies from two Swedish sisters. They are defending champs for air guitar too. Also up for best actor….
