Price’s tutor calls Ron Wilson ‘unfair’ for criticism of Reimer

Leafs coach Ron Wilson didn’t like goaltender James Reimer’s performance during Toronto’s 4-2 loss to Washington on Saturday, and he let the world know it. Wilson criticized Reimer for allowing two early goals on what he felt were “stoppable chances.” However, Eli Wilson, who tutors Carey Price and used to be the Senators’ goalie coach, thinks Wilson went too far.

“What Ron Wilson did was completely unfair,” said Eli Wilson, who isn’t related to Ron. “Not only as a goaltender, but as a person, as a teammate. The guy you have to lean on and be close to and depend on every night is your goalie. If you can’t do that, you’re in trouble. To single him out like that was unfair.”

Toronto’s recent woes have increased speculation that Toronto might attempt to acquire a goaltender before the trade deadline Monday afternoon. The Leafs have slipped to 10th place in the Eastern Conference and are three points behind the eighth place Winnipeg Jets, so regardless of what their team looks like Monday evening, they have to stop the bleeding soon if they want to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Ron Wilson is a whiney ass, always has been, always will be.

Unfortunately Reimer’s career is over before it even started.

He could have been a great goalie with a long career, but the Leafs’ mishandling, I mean denial, of his multiple concussions last season and this season ruined his chances.

    It’s a shame really.

It’s a gutless move when you call out a player as a coach

I thought Wilson was better than this. Calling a young player out through the media when he’s struggling is just gutless. Reimer was not good last night but that loss was on the whole team. They looked like they didn’t even want to be out there.

Price’s mentor should totally be talking crap about another goalie. Price was the worst fantasy draft pick I made this year.

Wilson (head coach) is classless. Im not surprised that he would throw the goalie under the bus.

The problem is their captain and horrible defense. Phaneuff if he had any balls or class not only as a captain but as a player would be backing up his goalie and putting the blame on himself and his other defenseman infront of the net…. But he’s not a leader, he’s a selfish scumbag who has no business wearing a ‘C’.

I don’t know his personality at all so I’ll ignore the “selfish scumbag” part but I will agree with you when you say he should back up his goalie and put the blame on his shoulders. A proper captain will defend his teammates and speak out against the coach in this kind of situation.
