On a side note I'd have to say Thomas and Rask are the top tandem in the NHL right now. I'd put Quick and Bernier near the top( although I don't think we've seen a big enough sample size from Bernier yet) with Luongo and Schnieder and maybe Backstrom and Hardding.

I agree with most of what you said BC but I'd move Eaton as well as I don't see Garth resigning him and shouldn't. Clitsome would be a definite upgrade over Staios, Jurcina, Motteau and even Eaton. I don't see us making the playoffs especially with this schedule we have left so why not let the kids get a taste of the NHL for the last 20 games. Ness looked very solid( had 2 goals today for Bridg) and Donovan has looked really strong in the games I've attended there. DeHaan is back and Katic on the way( both looked strong in the NHL Calvin this year and Katic last).
What worries me about Nabby and PA is that they just might go for the money over a team with a future like ours. We've heard the loyalty thing before from players like Poti and Kozlov who ended up taking the money and a shot at winning immediately. We also just let Blake walk when he was at his highest value and, yes I understand we were about to make the playoffs but, to think what his return might have been, and how it might have helped us today is the scary part, and the same thing that worries me about taking the chance of losing PA and Nabby for nothing now. Plus us PA going to be worth the 5 million a year he'll most likely seek after seeing Ruttuu get that ridiculous contract from the canes? I do believe Nabby truly likes being here with the Russian community in NYC so close and I do believe PA will give us the first shot at signing him but still there's no guarantees again which worries me. If they really want to be part of this team going forward why not sign now? Also if traded we could try to resign them in the offseason especially if they really do want to come back( ala Leetch with the Rags after he was traded to Edm.)
The one thing I do disagree on is I'd let Montoya go, and if we do retain Nabby have him touter Poulin on the NHL level and let Nillson and, Koskinen develop in the AHL as Mikko needs to learn Western hockey as he has nothing left to prove in Europe.
I thought the bright spots of today's game were Cizikas and Ullie looking like they belong in NHL.

"on what planet would Quick and Bernier be the best 1/2 tandem in hockey?" ...

Fair enough friend, as that's a good question. Well your answer to that would be right "here" on planet Earth ! ... not but a 30 minute "brisk" walk from Rogers Arena ! As of tonight, the surging LA Kings have allowed but 135 goals "against" in 62 games played, while the Sister Act has allowed 154 goals "against" in 63 games played. Everyone knows that comrades Quick and Bernier are the "best" in the business, bar none. On the other hand, your Italian "Michelin Man" is again looking like a Greek government bond !

What you had and no longer do is Quick's brother-in-law. His first year away from the Kings he would have been 2nd in goals scored. Last year and this he would be 1st by a large margin. Lombardi let him walk for nothing and then traded away the best prospect in the NHL, a very good 2nd line forward, a good offensive defenseman, a first round pick, and a second round pick to get two players who make 3.5X what Matt Moulson does and who have 3 more goals than he does combined.

FOR SALE !

- 1976 Chevy Vega
- working condition with "less than" 1,000,000 miles
- only 56 x owners
- leaks oil, but not really that much
- asking only $200.00 OBO

Yes, I know that as an LA Kings fan, I shouldn't be poking fun like this ... especially given the fact that we have the best 1/2 tandem in hockey today, with comrades Quick and Bernier ... so I'm sorry friends, as I couldn't resist ... :)
