Video: Amid trade rumors, Dustin Brown gets a hat trick

Feb 25, 2012, 11:16 PM EDT

Dustin Brown’s name has come up in trade rumors since the Los Angeles Kings acquired Jeff Carter on Thursday. However, in a game that was marked as the reunion of Carter and Mike Richards, it was Brown that stole the show.

Richards and Carter were both pointless while Brown got a hat trick and registered an assist in a 4-0 victory over Chicago. You can see footage of Brown’s work below.

Depending on your frame of mind, this outburst will either help the Kings get what they want should they shop Brown or its evidence that he needs to stay in Los Angeles. Either way, if this ends up being Brown’s last game in a Kings’ uniform, then he will be leaving on a high note.

We LA Kings fans are extremely happy tonight, as our late-season surge has finally commenced ! … as I’ve stated here in previous posts, the playoffs are already an afterthought for us Kings fans … we’re gunning for nothing less than the Sedins and top spot in the Western Conference !

Yeah, maybe they can get out of the first round now…

That was his best showing by far all year. Otherwise, he’s having a career low year. Sell high (only because his recent play) and pick up some D for losing Jack Johnson. LA will need it.

No matter what sport it is, the team that’s playing the hottest down the stretch has the best chance to win it all. I’m hoping that will be the case with my Kings. Ya we’ve been strugglin big time, but if they can catch fire now, i don’t see any team stoppin them

“the team that’s playing the hottest down the stretch has the best chance to win it all” …

Couldn’t have said it any better myself ! That’s “exactly” the elusive goal for every team in the league and that’s “exactly” what we LA KIngs are now doing … enter the playoffs on a hot streak and then “go nuts” from there ! The Canucks on the other hand are pursuing a very dangerous tack, by expending themselves now, long before the “real” fight even starts. It’s a given that they can’t sustain their current level of play indefinitely and so I can easily see them being swatted aside in the first round (ie: and I can also easily see another riot here in Vancouver). There’s even a possibility that the task of eliminating the Canucks in the first round will fall upon us LA Kings ? … though that’s probably unlikely, given the fact that at worst we’re going to finish 3rd in the conference. Nonetheless, we’re now on our way ! We have the undisputed “top” goaltender in the league with Jonathan Quick, we’re “bristling” with firepower now at virtually every position and we’re coached by “good people” in the form of Coach Sutter !
