Defense & netminding have been atrocious! Green has been out for awhile. Backstrom? Who knows if he’ll play again this year. Hamrlik & Knuble are old. Have to rely on two youngsters Perrault & Johansson to make plays. Oh, and Semin blows with all his fancy moves that get him no where. Ovie is the least of their problems and its funny how people only talk about him. This TEAM has alot of issues that need to be addressed.

Haters will hate, and can say what they want about Ovi… but if he truely didn’t care about playing, and had no heart left in it he could have milked this for far more then one game. The fact that hes back so soon after not even being able to skate a lap at full speed actually speaks volumes about his character.

His poor play is another issue, but hes certainly not packing it in on the Caps this year.

whoa whoa, little bit of an over reaction, dont ya think Jason? Myself, being part of the Sportsfreak Fun Boyz Cult, find this action a little unnecessary. I know my partner Sportsfreak13 agrees with me. He’s so silly sometimes and boy does he have a temper. This poor guy is suffering. He will not be able to come out of this slump until gay men are accepted in the NHL. Its got to be dificult to hide your sexualility from your teammates. How is expected to lead when he cant even admit to his teammates that he occasionally drops the soap on purpose. Hopefully Hunter will cut him some slack, and let him and his massage theripist live happilly ever after

The Caps used to be so much fun to watch. I’m a Flyers fan that lives in DC…I miss the excitement that used to surround the team. They’re headed into Redskins territory very quickly.

At some point ownership has to recognize that GMGM’s philosophy of building a young team with picks and AHL development is not working because as their star players age, they decline dramatically.

He’s been a good GM but he’s no Dave Poile. Time for a change? I think so.

EXACTLY! That’s what I’m looking for here. We had what was gearing up to be the best rivalry in hockey today at that point. After Game 6, I honestly would have called it 50/50 on who was moving on- and figured that it didn’t matter, because they’d face each other and do this dance for years to come. Like Avs/Wings in the glory days, but without the violent aspect to it- just two teams bringing out the absolute best hockey in each other.

Whether it’s Crosby’s sad tale the past couple of years, Ovechkin not caring anymore, the amount of turnover between the two rosters… not sure what it is, but it feels like that’s passed now. Pens/Caps used to be impossible to get tickets for here in D.C., and now it’s just another game- one the Caps are likely to drop, because why put in effort?

We got cheated of what we’d hoped would be the best rivalry in the sport. And that’s really sad- nothing else out there comes close to what this could have been. Not even CLOSE.

Seriously. Being a Penguins fan, that 09 series was the most nervewracking I’ve ever seen. I was terrified everytime he touched the puck. I miss that about the Caps.

Team leader with 24 goals… remember back in ’09 when he had 24 by Christmas?

What does that say about him? Hell, team leader with 24, what does it say about the team around him? The one that used to win games 6-4 on the way to a Presidents Trophy?

Sad, really. What a waste of talent.
