When I heard that Toews had hit a L support beam I was picturing something a lot worse and I think hes lucky. Living in chicago this sort of thing does happen but I wouldn’t go as far as say it happens a lot. I personally didn’t think it was that unusual that Toews hit it.

Man am I glad he is OK. Who the hell would ask him for an autograph after he gets in a car wreck!!!!!! I’m sure this doesn’t help the speedy recovery from his concussion either. Nice car, Toews.

Chicago-area PHTers, can I ask an out-of-towner question? Does this happen often there? Cars hitting the ‘L’ supports? I’ve always wondered how safe of a setup it is and things like this make me wonder again. Is this unusual in that it’s a star hockey player, or is it unusual in that this never happens anyway?

(I’ve never lived anywhere with a setup like this- I grew up in Denver, with ground-level light rail, and live in D.C. with the mostly below-ground Metro, so I’ve never experienced this.)
