No you dont speak on behalf of anyone except an idiotic and completely conformative fan base of unknowledgeable fans. I am Flyers fan, and i will not sit here and say that Bryz has been all star calibur this year but hes also played 41 games. You find me a goalie that has played that many games as a Flyer at this point of the season ? That is the calling card of any “#1″ goalie in the league. ITs the ability to play 60 to 70 games a season, night in and night out. Its a shame that bryz will get run out of town because our own fans are turncoats, we begged and begged for a big name acqusition, we got it …. then what? we hate the guy and its as if hes the worst goalie ever. You think hes so bad ? go ask brian boucher, micheal leighton, marty biron, ray emery, johan backlund, john sebastian aubin, scott munroe, and the countless others of failed attempts at becoming our number 1, Philly fans: you dont even know what you want, so shut up, stop critizing someone you cant out perform on the job physically or mentally. Ive had enough, yes ive been dissapointed with the goaltending at times. however, it is a team game, and the defense has plenty to do with that. Enough is enough, lets get back to supporting our team.

you “couldn’t care less”, saying you could care less implies you still care. goalies, just like pitchers are a bit strange, but this guy clearly can’t handle playing in a city that cares…too much??…about hockey. my response is, 36 f’n years and tired of it.

and all this, well you wouldn’t care if the media didn’t blow it up…you’re right. but then again, I wouldn’t and no one would, even know about it if the media didn’t report it. this is news, this is sports, this is philly, this is perpetual goalie controversy. getting awfully tired of it.

Of course the media is all over this guy. It’s Philly. The love to criticize guys who are in the spotlight (Donovan McNabb, Ryan Howard, Mike Richards, etc). Also it’s the medias job to take things out of context and display them in a different way.

For me all I worry about is his play in net which really needs to improve come playoff time. As for what he says, I really could care less just like I didn’t care how little Mike Richards used to say. Bryz is just being Bryz and the media is just going to have to get used to it. Goalies in the NHL are crazy dudes. They have to be when they are sitting in front of a net gettin pucks blasted at them every game. Just another case of the Philly sportswriters trying to stir up trouble again.

I think this guy knows he’s here with a NTC/NMC and honestly could care less what we think at this point. It almost looks like he’s horrible out of spite…that’s how bad he looks now. I want to like this guy but he’s not performing as expected and he won’t shut up, which can be a liiiiittle irritating as a die hard fan.

I did see a stat the other night though. The flyers have the most penalties in the league by at least 100 minutes (480 I think was the number) and have aloud about 45 or so PP goals.

Crappy defensive play and a crap ton of penalties doesnt help a struggling goalie…

Bryz’ numbers from when he played in anaheim & phoenix were the product of having good defenseman in front of him and playing in solid defensive systems. Unfortunately, his career numbers prior to coming to philly were the reason for the 9 year, $51 million contract. However, the flyers play more of a run and gun, offense first system, and now hes getting exposed as the aberage goalie that he is. bryz was way over rated because of the defensive teams he played on and unfortunately, after the goaltending disasters of last season and him being the “best” free agent goalie available at the time, we had to give him the contract he wanted. Snyder had to make good on his promise to the fans that our goaltending situation would never deteriorate like it did again.

It was actually after the 10th game of the season when he said that, and once again you have to take what he says with a grain of salt. He has been slumping all season, but he also has had a great track record before this season (15 shutouts over the previous 2 seasons). In his 21 wins this season he has a 2.11 GAA and .927 Save %, which means it’s not every game that he is letting in soft goals. It only seems that way because when he has a bad night it can get ugly. They need to just play him for like 7 straight games without pulling him mid-game. Believe me, if he can right the ship this Flyers team could be very dangerous. All Flyers fans should hope he gets it turned around instead of calling for his head after only 39 starts.

I wish I had your optimism. 1 bad goal per game is too many, he’s good for at least that, usually 2. The defense has been lacking yes, but when a goalie consistently let’s in an unscreened shot from above the circle, it’s more than a slump. And if it is a slump it’s been going on all season, remember the “no confidence in myself” comment after the third game of the season. Anyway, yeah I’d like him to turn it around but I don’t expect it

So a little over half a season counts for everything? Professional athletes go on extended slumps all the time. Goalies go on slumps all the time. It’s really nothing new. Also, he is actually having a pretty good month. So far in February he has gone 3-1-1 with a 2.25 GAA and a .911 Save %.

Don’t forget how maligned the defense has been this year. With Pronger going down and playing the 2 young guys Bourdon and Gustaffson way too much. Just give the guy a chance to turn it around.

We in Philly all thought Bryzgalov was the answer we were looking for at goaltender. I still have people saying to give him time, he’ll come around. We’ve been waiting for more than half the season for him to come around, he hasn’t. He is the weakest link, you’re not going to win consistently when he’s letting in a couple bad goals per game. He should man up and let us out of the contract since he sucks. Let us get a real goalie for the playoff run. Or is our #1 goalie in Adirondak?

While definitely strange, he actually has grown on me. I think he’s pretty funny. Clearly he is making fun of himself which is refreshing to see – humility in a professional athlete is rare these days. If he was playing better all of these quotes would contribute to his buzz in Philly. Winning changes everything.

It’s because he doesn’t like the media. All I care about is his play too, which has been pretty atrocious. Can’t we just talk about that rather than whether or not he can play in a market like Philadelphia? All he needs to do is put a string of 6 or 7 good games together and the fans will be right back cheering for him again. Then I think there will be no “problem” with him playing in Philadelphia.

To an extent, I agree. The media savors the opportunity to make this guy look bad, but he isn’t helping his cause. For the record, I only care about his play, and it’s not meeting the expectations set in his contract at this point. I have to admit though… he seems indifferent at times when he talks to the media, and that’s a bit concerning.

You only care about him talking because the media has to make a big deal out of it. If the media didn’t say anything about it you wouldn’t care at all. Is he supposed to be mute the rest of his life? This is the type of person he is and everyone in Philly is just going to have to get used to it.

As for his goaltending, it obviously has to get better. I’m sure he would tell you the same thing, but he would do it in a way that would prob not be to your liking. Every time he says something it is used by the media to make him look like a douche. Then when the Flyers try to make him not talk, the media goes all nutso. The media loves him because they always have good quotes to make stories about. He has to talk because it is part of his job. Maybe we should start taking what he is saying and realize that this is who he is (someone who jokes about everything all the time).

He’s not saying anything thats untruthful. Philly is a tough place to play, but if he can’t play in Philly, he can’t play in NY, Boston, or Pittsburgh. I doubt any of them would put up with this headcase. I can’t imagine Rangers fans blindly supporting this guy.

He probably was joking, but I’m sick of him. I’ve given him the benefit of the doubt.. I’ve had enough at this point. He let in 4 goals on 25 shots. Pavelec let in about the same on twice as many shots. If the Jets had won yesterday, it would be because Pavelec, not in spite of him. Since the Flyers won today, I guess we’ll forget about how bad Bryzgalov has been…. but no, he doesn’t have any room to talk.

The guy is obviously joking around. It’s not like he is saying anything that is not true. They have been booing him in Philadelphia, and rightfully so. He never said that they shouldn’t be booing him. Also, his comments the other day about, “finding peace in his soul to play” in Philadelphia, were directed to the media and not the fans. The media are the ones that keep hounding him with stupid questions about whether he has the mindset to play in Philadelphia. Just let him play and hopefully he can get on a roll.
