OK a few interesting things of note: #1. Joe Pavelski has more points this year than Rick Nash. #2. They are the same age, with Nash having played more years. #3. If Rick Nash cost 3 million dollars a year more than Pavelski, his numbers especially recent years sure make Pavelski a better value than Nash. That being said as a Sharks fan I want to see Nash join them this year, in time for the playoffs. I would rather see the Sharks unload Marleau and his 6.6 million contract, along with Nick Petricki, Tomas Greiss, and draft pick then trade Pavs. It would make much more sense because you can afford Nash much more if you can unload Pat's salary. As far a Couture, that is obviously a nonstarter. Hoever if they were going to trade Couture for Nash, it should be straight up swap because Couture's value factoring age and potential is just as valuable as anything Rick Nash can bring to San Jose.

sergio - Jackets ownership has given the fans the middle finger time and time again. Here in Columbus it is season after season of ownership and management p**sing on you and telling you it's raining. We're not as dumb as people think. We know what's going on. That's why Nationwide has so many empty seats and the seats that are filled are often bought by the fans of whomever the Jackets are playing that night. As for rebuilding for the next 3-5 years, that would be different from the last 11 years how? If the Jackets played on either coast, the national media would be all over this franchise talking about how it's one of the worse run sports franchises in the Nation. But because we are in the middle of a state that no one would notice if it disappeared off the face of the Earth, the only time the media even mentions us is when the team tries to trade it's top player.

Personally if I was Blue Jackets ownership I wouldnt want to trade my top player, I would instead fire the G.M. and call this a lost season the way Howson handle this season its amazing how he still has a job, Columbus will have 13 mill in cap space, why not build around Nash & Carter trading both will only tell your fanbase that you plan on rebuilding for the next 3-5 years.

I don't know if Nash would put them over the top this year. Washing the stink off of playing in Columbus will take time. This season had to leave a mark on the guy's mind. Will he start to panic if they only have a one goal lead in the last five minutes, forgetting that it's not Mason back there waiting to blow it? Will he struggle against Detroit thinking he's the ONLY guy who can score and that he has to do everything? I'm not sure all the bad habits that even the best players pick up playing on such a miserable team can be eliminated in a month or two. He and the Sharks may need to wait until next year before Nash realizes he can trust his teammates to do their job and he can attack the net with abandon. I think he can be a difference maker out there, just not sure it will be right away. Every guy on the Jackets carries scars from this year's fiasco.
