I think they wanted Couturier *or* Schenn in the deal, but your point basically remains the same. I would like to see Nash at the right price, but someone above made a good point by noting that trading for him could very well preclude the Flyers getting Weber in the offseason (assuming he becomes available). Also, I think trade or no trade the Rangers just about have the division locked up. Given the way the Flyers have played at home though, I can't say I'm too distraught over giving up the #1 seed to them.

First off I would love to have Nash in a Flyers unifrom. That would make one of the top lines in the NHL if that was the case. The only reason why I would not do it is they are asking way to much. I could see JRV and two young D men and a couple pics. They want JVR,Couturier and Schenn no way. I was hoping the Kings would be the frontrunners and keep him out West but I HATE to say it if he goes to Rangers you can pretty much give them the east

atwater - You know nothing about the Jackets or Nash. Please, you're making a fool of yourself. I understand no one is excited to follow the worse team in hockey. Hell, I'm in Columbus and I'm not excited to watch the Jackets. But your posts are filled with so many mistakes, it makes me wonder why the hell anyone who has NO idea about what's going on in Columbus would feel comfortable putting up three posts riddled with mistakes about the franchise and the player.

1) the owner has stated repeatedly Howson is safe 2) Patrick is looking over his shoulder on this deal 3) the Jackets signed a contract with the city to keep them here until 2039 - no matter what happens with this trade or even if there is a trade 4) Nash is an exceptional player. As said before, watch the Olympics 5) He does elevate the play around him. There are simply too many holes for one player to fill. He can't score the goal, play defense and goal tend all at the same time. Management has failed on every first round pick except for him and the play of Steve Mason speaks for itself.

Do yourself and the rest of us a favor and stay off the Columbus boards. You don't follow the team. Lucky you. No sane man would blame you. Have the common sense to realize that if you know nothing about the team, it might be wise to refrain from stating "facts" in your posts that are outright wrong. It undermines everything you post.

I'm not sure why they're letting Howson make this trade, he's probably going to be fired at the end of the year and this will likely end up being the biggest trade in Columbus history. If I were the owner I would fire Howson now, take the next 3 months to pick a suitable replacement and then tell him to trade Nash at the draft when you're likely to get more teams involved.

Regardless of how I feel about Nash as a player they are going to get a massive haul in this deal, they need to make sure they get it right if they're going to have any chance of keeping that team in Columbus.

Sorry a superstar and "franchise" player elevates the play of everyone around him, Nash doesn't do that. Even on bad teams someone has to score goals and on Columbus it's been Nash.

Nash is a good player, but he's not an elite player, paying the price in players that Columbus is asking and then taking on the $7.8 million cap hit (when the cap is expected to go down next year) just isn't worth it.

A player of this calibre? You mean an overrated player with a $7.8 millon cap hit who's at best pretty good? Why would no one want to sell the farm for him?

He has hit 40 goals twice in his nine years, he's netted more than 70 points once...oh and he does come with all of that playoff experience!

Rick Nash is gonna be a huge albatross around some team's neck!
