Derek Roy had arguably his best game of the season Sunday in Buffalo’s 6-2 win over the Penguins. The diminutive center scored twice, added an assist, and was named first star.

But one good game won’t be enough to stop the trade rumors. With just a year remaining on his contract ($4 million cap hit) and the Sabres needing to make changes, the Buffalo News reports that Roy “could be down to his final days” with the team that drafted him in 2001.

One team that’s been thrown around as a possible destination is Chicago. The Blackhawks acquired Brendan Morrison from Calgary a few weeks ago as a potential second-line center, but that move hasn’t paid dividends yet. In fact, Morrison’s been a healthy scratch the last four games.

According to the Buffalo News, the Sabres haven’t said anything to Roy about possibly being moved.

“Right now, this is my team,” Roy said. “I’m not a GM. I have no idea what they’re going to do. All I can do is play for my team, play for my linemates, go out every night like it was my first year and play as hard as I can every game.”

Roy doesn’t have a no-trade clause, according to

Good, so the Goose will stay I hope. See this healthy Sabres team? This is the team that Pegula had in mind. Leino and Ehrhoff are proving their worth, Ehrhoff is playing extremly well. This should have been a Top-4 team in the East, even with the Miller struggles. A healthy roster next season and this team could truely compete. Is all we need is a bit more size. This team has laready shown, when healthy, they can score at will. Pominville has been the best captain choice in a few years.

@rabidbillsfan- why do u stick up for a underaceiving & overpaid team?

I will admit I am a frustrated fan! I went to a Sabres preseason game against Toronto thinking we only needed a good quality center. Boy was I fooled.

I say clean house from top to bottom & get some bigger gritty scorers! We can’t have one or two guys scoring?

What happened to our defense? Old man breath is stronger than Myers?

Im sick of mediocrity! This town deserves a championship!

If I am wrong then I will buy you a beer @ Pearl Street or wherever!

Us Canucks fans would gladly take Myers off your hands. You want Ballard instead? We could throw in Alberts if you’re dead set on tall guys.

I agree about trading the tall drink of water Myers…how about packaging Myers with a prospect(s) (not Kassian) to Nashville for Shea Weber.
