Watch Ilya Bryzgalov call himself a scapegoat

Feb 18, 2012, 8:11 PM EDT

Ilya Bryzgalov isn’t afraid to speak his mind or publicly criticize himself, but following Pittsburgh’s 6-4 victory over Philadelphia on Saturday, Bryzgalov seemed more interested is passing the blame.

Bryzgalov did acknowledge that he needs to improve, even as he complained about how others are portraying him, so he should get some credit for that. All the same, the Flyers goaltending is their single biggest question mark going into the postseason. The Flyers recent acquisitions of defensemen Pavel Kubina and Nicklas Grossman should help, but Bryzgalov will also need to be at his best in the playoffs.

Real smart, Bryz. Find a camera and start talking about how you get scapegoated and victimized after signing a franchise-crippling contract and displaying the worst goaltending this side of Steve Mason in an enormously high-pressure hockey town who expected their team to go for the Cup this year.

Nothing could possibly go wrong here. Nothing at all.

This is hilarious!!! What a mess. Bryz is my new favorite player in the NHL. It’s a crime what this taint smear of a team did to this once promising young goaltender. Philly’s goon like system is killing this young mans chances of making a living in the NHL. Good for him for speaking his mind and calling out his no talent defensive core.

As a Coyotes fan, this couldn’t happen to a better man. Take the money and run Bryz. Hahahah…not even starting, not even finishing.
It was never Bryz and was always Tippett’s defense first system…just ask Mike Smith what he thinks of Tippetts system.

” but Bryzgalov will also need to be at his best in the playoffs”

Correction, Bryz needs to be at his best every game.

Uh, maybe he has a point. Bryzgalov has gotten booed in a shutout and also in a 7-2 win, just in the past few weeks. Philadelphia is ridiculous. (I’m a Flyers fan)
